Class Information and Reminders
Math- Today we will look at exponent properties: positive, negative, one, and zero exponents. Students will receive Unit 2, Week 1 Homework today.
Science- Today in science students will be completing a study island lesson on ecosystems and the impact of technology on science. We are still in our Earth science unit, thus the ecosystems. When analyzing answers on last week’s quiz, students seem to misunderstand the impact of technology, so we are covering that today. Quiz grades should be out to students and in powerschool by Tuesday.
Social Studies- Today we studying taxation and the colonies.
English Language Arts -Today students are reading "The Tell Tale Heart" and completing a graphic organizer in which they identify events that either: reveal aspects of the character, propel the action, or provoke a decision. They will also need to explain their reasoning for each event recorded in the organizer. We will use a "jigsaw" approach with this assignment, where after a certain period of time, a student from each group will rotate to another group and they will confer about their responses and current thinking.
Tomorrow students will make their bi-monthly trip to the library. It is required that students have a fiction book to read daily.

I-Ready The I-Ready program provides students with lessons and assessments to strengthen their knowledge Math and ELA concepts. The Math and ELA teachers use this program in class frequently, and will use the students' scores on the assessments that follow the lessons in their grade books. We strongly encourage students working on lessons at home if possible. The student username is the student's ID #@nkcschools.org (123456@nkcschools.org, for example) and the password is the student's birthdate (MMDDYYYY).
PowerSchool Be sure to sign up for a Parent Portal account! From this account you can view student's grades and attendance. Don't have a parent portal account?
