Co-President's Update
We wanted to begin our first Co-Presidents Update with a heartfelt thank you to Molly Hannan and Chris Riley for three outstanding years of service as Co-Presidents of the McKinley PTO! McKinley is fortunate to have a strong PTO with the ongoing support of McKinley families. Lots of volunteer time, hard work and generosity goes into making sure that the PTO is successful. Everything from fundraising to leading club activities for students and creating fun opportunities for our families to get together, the PTO is a vital part of the McKinley community. Under the leadership of Molly and Chris, the PTO has flourished. On behalf of all McKinley students, teachers, staff, parents and guardians – thank you!
As we head into the final stretch of the 2016-17 school year, we want to hear from you. There are several ways in which we hope to get your ideas and feedback:
- Attend the last PTO meeting of the school year on May 4th from 7-8 p.m.
- Flag us down when you see us – we can’t wait to get to know everyone better.
- Feel free to email us with your ideas, questions or comments.
- Take the end of year survey. Look for the parent survey in your email inbox when we return from Spring Break.
Every McKinley parent and guardian is a member of the PTO. Your input is crucial as we begin our strategic planning for the 2017-18 school year.
We are proud to take over the role of Co-Presidents of the PTO and thank you for this opportunity to serve.
Sincerely,
Brain Malloy & Lindsay Stadler

Wauwatosa McKinley’s Destination Imagination Team Omega!
Wauwatosa McKinley’s Project Omega fought through a trying but ultimately rewarding visit to the State DI (Destination Imagination) Tournament on Saturday, April 8th in Stevens Point, WI. The team met their first challenge when they realized they had forgotten their engineered structures back in Wauwatosa. The team rallied to improvise new structures with donated wood, glue and tools from the Wauwatosa's Roosevelt Rockets. Project Omega was able to assemble two new structures and submit them for the competition. Sadly, the structures broke right as they team was setting them up to be tested. Not to be discouraged, the team completed their presentation, performed amazing in their “Instant Challenge” and placed 12th among the 17 other elementary engineering teams. The Engineering Challenge Master complemented Project Omega’s teamwork, ability to work under pressure and positive attitude saying, “Project Omega showed the true sprit of DI today and that everyone should be proud of their efforts.”
Congratulations to Henry Michel, Henry Rommelfanger, Elliott Engbring, Natalia Byrne, Jackson Myers, and Eliana Idzikowski and team managers Renee Michel and Ann Christiansen.
Also, a big thank you to Monica Deluhery for coordinating a successful inaugural year of Destination Imagination at McKinley. We can't wait for next year!
