JV Leadership Message

As the snow begins to fly and winter sets in, thoughts of hibernation sometimes creep in and we want to go inside and sit and wait for sprint to arrive. However we need to be mindful of the importance of “Physical Literacy” for our children. Our teachers work hard to ensure our students are developing academically, spiritually, socially, and physically during the time that they are at school but we need the “village” to help when they are out of the school. Over the next few weeks we will be sharing links to some articles from the Alberta Teachers Association dealing with the importance of developing physical literacy in children. We hope these articles can help you in ensuring that your child grows up healthy and happy! At the school we are committed to promoting active living and healthy eating, and we are hoping that you will support us by not hibernating with your children this winter, but will get out and be active!!

Willis Wellness Wednesdays!

Check our Grade 1 and 2 students this week for Willis Wellness Wednesday! Once a month students can participate in wellness, movement activities/games in the gym over lunch recess. In 2 weeks our Grade 3 and 4's will be active in the gym over lunch recess if they wish to participate.

Grade 4 Retreat

Our Grade 4 Leadership Teams are up and running and students have been meeting and working on activities around the school. As a way to kick off our year, students will be travelling to Camp Van-Es on Friday, October 21st for the whole day. The day will consist of faith and leadership activities, encouraging students to form new friendships and connect with God.

We will be leaving the school at 9:00 am and returning back to school by 3:00 pm. As we will be outside throughout the day, please ensure that your child is dressed for the weather and is wearing appropriate footwear. Camp Van-Es staff will be preparing us a healthy lunch and your child will be provided with a snack in the morning. If your child has any allergies or would prefer to bring a bagged lunch from home, please communicate this with your child’s teacher.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.

Thank you,

The Grade 4 Team, Mr. Marshall and Mrs. Boehm

School Spirit Day

Thanks to our School Spirit Team for organizing our first school spirit day of the year. We had many sports fans in the building, from a wide variety of teams!! Great work!

Student Forms

Just a reminder to parents that we are still missing a large amount of Data Verification Forms, Field Trip consents, and Technology consents via your Powerschool Parent Portals.

An email was sent home this week, requesting all field trip consents be sent in. As some of our classes are heading out on Field Trips next week, please make sure those consents are filled out online, or sent in via paper copy asap. If we do not have consent, students will not be able to go on these out of school field trips.

Access to you parent portal works best with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and/or Firefox.

School Fees / Fee Waivers

School fees are now available to pay online using your Powerschool Parent Portal. Invoices have been sent home with your child. If you need help logging in, please call or email the school office and we will help create an account for you.

If you are experiencing financial difficulties, EICS is offering a Fee Waiver Program again this year.

Please visit: https://www.eics.ab.ca/download/77800 to download a copy of the forms to fill out.

Please not that all applications must be received at EICS by December 12th, 2016.
