Grant given in honor of LPS
Thanks to all the support from our students, families, and staff, TeamConnor recognized Leadership Prep School for the fundraising efforts the school has provided to help fund pediatric cancer research.
A research grant of almost $75,000 has been given in honor of Leadership Prep to Dr. Erin Butler at
UT Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Butler is researching improved treatments for patients with rhabdomyosarcoma, the most common type of soft tissue sarcoma in pediatric patients. In order to improve treatment failure and relapse, newer targeted drugs are needed. One such new drug will inhibit a specific sarcoma protein found in a common type of rhabdomyosarcoma, and hopefully inhibit tumor growth first in laboratory studies. Combined with chemotherapy, an enhanced effect is likely to improve the tumor response, leading to improved outcomes for young patients once this investigation reaches clinical trials.
LPS has raised nearly $50,000 for TeamConnor Childhood Cancer – more than any other school participating in the program - during the years we have been supporting them each fall.
See the Lifestyle Frisco post here.
What an honor for us as an LPS community!
Helping present the check to Dr. Butler were (l to r): Kathryn Thompson, Eden Washington, Dr. Butler, Emory Washington, Ashley Piltz, and Audrey Thompson.
Reminders
Arrival:
- Students should be in their seats ready to learn at 7:55am; after that, they are tardy
- They should come with all the items they will need for the day (for example: backpack, water bottle, lunch if not ordered, snack, mask, etc.)
- Parents should remain in the car when dropping off or picking up; once you have pulled to the designated spot, students should hop out even if no one is there to open the door for them (we have limited safety patrol helpers due to Covid)
Dismissal:
- Use the School Dismissal Manager (SDM) app to check in when you arrive on property; this alerts the teacher to send the child to the carpool area. We will not keep calling children who have not been checked in on the app.
- Keep your car tag displayed so we know which child goes into which car.
- Drive slowly and attentively for everyone's safety. Do not pass cars without being directed to do so by a staff member.
- Dismissal is able to end at 3:35pm since we only have half of our students in person. Please pick up your child no later than 3:35pm.
If you have any issues with SDM or need a new car tag, please contact the office so we can get that fixed for you.

Summer Camps?
Here is the beginning smore newsletter.
Kelly Skinner's After Hours Program
Does your child need after school care and supervision? Help with homework? The AFTER HOURS program at our secondary campus has EXPANDED to include any student from elementary or secondary.
Kelly Skinner runs this program independently of the school, and is an LPS mom who loves our school and students. She substitutes regularly and has been very involved in multiple school activities over the past four years. Elementary students will be walked down to the secondary building by Mrs. Skinner after they are released for the day. The classroom at secondary is currently not in use during the school day as it is assigned to an online teacher.
AFTER HOURS is available for early release days and some Full Staff Development days. During the day your child can expect to play games, complete homework, have chrome book time, play outside or in the gym when available, do art projects, science experiments, and watch a G rated movie on full days. Students need their own snack and water, on full days they also need a lunch from home. We follow all of the normal LPS COVID policies, and pick up is at the Secondary building south parking lot (regular drop off and pick up area).
Please contact Kelly Skinner directly to sign up!
