Take Action

Community Party Book is Here!

Preview Today — Online Sign-Ups Begin Nov. 16

The list of parties is available now! Online sign-ups begin Sunday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. Parties are first come, first served. These social gatherings are hosted by UCLA Lab School families as a way of building community and raising funds to support the Fall Carnival. Get ready for fun! There will be something for everyone — kids, grown-ups, alumni and families!

Fall Carnival - Parking Info + Help Needed

We can’t wait to see everyone this Sunday, Nov. 16, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the blacktop!

PARKING - UCLA Lab School parking permits will be valid on Sunday on the school’s green curbs and in Lot R. Please do not park in any space that is blocked by an orange cone as those are reserved for our vendors. Overflow parking is available in Lot 5 (parking structure across from carpool) on Level 4. Permits will also be for sale in Lot 5 as well.

**Note**: There will be a 5K race on Sunday that will include Charles E. Young North Dr., which runs in front of our school. The road will be closed from 9 -10 a.m. Due to this inconvenience, UCLA Lab School parent permits and R permits will be valid in Lot 5 all day. To access Lot 5 before 10 a.m. enter the UCLA campus from Sunset at Royce Drive. One lane will be open to provide access to Lot 5. After 10 a.m. Charles E. Young North Dr. and Lot R will reopen and be available for parking.

EVENT HELP – Any help with Carnival set-up on Saturday or Sunday morning will be greatly appreciated. Please contact Dominique Wirtschafter at if you can help.

FSA Fall Carnival — Bake Sale Items Wanted

Rooms 11 & 12 will be running the DELICIOUS BAKE SALE booth at Carnival this year. We need your help with baked goods. It would be awesome if the goodies are homemade, but we do not discriminate! Have your children help you bake. Contributions are welcome on the day of Carnival at 10:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. Just come find our booth. All proceeds benefit the Carnival.

Fall Into the FSA Book Fair

Sales begin on Carnival Day, Sunday, Nov. 16, and end on Thursday, Nov. 20. Get a jump on holiday gifts and support the FSA at the same time! Chapter and picture books, non-fiction, Spanish-language books -- you’ll find books for yourself, your kids and family, and classrooms. Reminder, on Carnival Sunday, Book Fair opens before Carnival does, and closes after Carnival ends, so come on by!

Volunteers still needed on Carnival Day and through the week. Please sign up for a shift at Access code: @labschool

Thank You, Community Campers!

To thank each person by name who contributed to making Community Camping another big success this year would mean a long list with every attendee’s name on it — Community Camping is truly a community effort.

So a big thanks to everyone who pitched in to organize, set up, bring supplies from the sign-up list, greet arrivals, help fellow campers, share sunblock and wine, lead activities, prep & serve meals, light fires, put out fires (literally and metaphorically), wash dishes, cart trash, clean up, and brave the smoke to grill our delicious dinner! The kids had a blast running, climbing, biking, jumping, swimming, ziplining, and all around enjoying! To each person who worked their shift with a smile and good energy, you are part of the magic that makes this event possible. For one weekend, with more than 300 attendees, we really were all neighbors! As one parent said: "The Community Camping was a fantastic family event, from the community meals, activities, zipline, campfire, glam tents, pool — I felt so happy and safe in this confined environment. Thank you!"

The FSA would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the Chairs of the Community Camping Committee: Karen Jones Hadley, Jocelyn Chan, Vanessa Saucedo, and Catherine Sustana (ex officio). We’d like to especially acknowledge their incredible leadership and generous contribution of time and effort in making this such a happy, safe, and memorable event. The new location in Santa Paula was spectacular, the activities amazing, and it was a perfect celebration of our wonderful community. Special thanks to their husbands too!

Family School Alliance (FSA)

The FSA is YOUR link to school activities. All are welcome to the monthly meetings, usually the first Wednesday of the month, always 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Conference Room. Find out about all the wonderful activities the FSA spearheads over the year and how you can join the fun and participate!
