Laminar Flow & Turbulent Flow

Laminar Flow
Some examples of Laminar Flow
Car
This car has a flat surface and it's fast. You can see that the flow from the air is smooth and fluent.
Airplane
An airplane is designed to go through the air smoothly. That's why when your on an airplane, it isn't much of a bumpy ride.
Killer Whale
A killer whale has a flat and smooth surface. While the whale is moving through water, it has laminar flow.
Turbulent Flow
Some Examples of Turbulent Flow
Golfball
A golfball is hollow in the inside and has holes on the outside. By this design, a golfball won't go that fast through turbulent flow.
Speed Boat
When a speed boat drives on water, the propellers of the boat creates a turbulent flow.
Van
A van is bulky and does not have a smooth surface. A racing car is faster that a van because it have a smooth surface. This van has turbulent flow.
Laminar Flow to a Turbulent Flow
Waterfall
When a waterfall is falling down the cliff, it first has laminar flow. When the water splashes down and goes everywhere, it has turbulent flow.
Sink
When you turn on a sink, it first has Laminar flow. When the water hits a object (in this case, a cup), it has turbulent flow.
Smoke
The smoke from the cigarette is rising up because the fluid particles are hot. When the smoke rises up from the cigarette, it first has laminar flow. When the smoke starts to go higher, it starts to spread and has turbulent flow.
