Local Lettuce Served in D5 Schools!
Great news! Starting on January 28 all lettuce greens served in District Five Schools will be grown locally at the SC State Farmers Market at Vertical Roots.
~This lettuce is a non-GMO product
~It is soil free
~The lettuce uses 98% less water than traditional farming
~From a nutrition standpoint, the lettuce is grown hydroponically
~It contains more potassium, calcium, and protein than most greens
~And....reduction in the carbon footprint!
Panera Bread & Relay for Life
From now until May 10th, you can upload your Panera Bread receipt to https://www.covelli.com/relay/ and 15% of your purchase will be donated to the Relay for Life team of your choice. Enter Chapin Intermediate into the team name, and Chapin-Irmo into Relay Organization. You will have to upload an image of your receipt. Thank you!
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
CIS students, faculty and staff accept the challenge to do as many KIND acts, as possible, in one week. For our ultimate act of Kindness, our school will join over 29,000 schools across the nation to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Last year, CIS raised $6,000.00 for this important and worthy cause. This week, we are asking our Chapin community, students, faculty, and staff to collect money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. If you would like to write a check, please make all checks payable to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. One class from 5th and 6th grades, with the most money collected, will win an Olive Garden Catered Class Party!
For more information about the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society visit www.lls.org.
Morning Student Drop Off
- Drivers should pull as far forward as possible before dropping off students.
- Students should never cross the line of traffic from parking spaces across the median from the CIS entrance.
- If you wish to park and let your student walk in, please do so from the designated visitors spaces at the front of the school and wait for the crosswalk attendant to ensure your student's safety.
- There are several entrances to our school and students can easily access anywhere within CIS from these entrances.
- Stopping the flow of traffic should be avoided.
- For drivers of students with large instruments, please pull out of the line of traffic in the lined space by the Music Suite doors to avoid delaying other drivers.
If you have any questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to call our front office at 803-575-5701.
