The Hall Way...
Although it is hard to believe, we are already halfway through the first quarter. Home Access Center has been updated with midterm grades and we will be mailing home midterms for any students that have a D or F grade in any of their classes. Now would be a great time to talk to your student about their progress so far this school year and a time to set some goals with them to finish the quarter strong!
Please do not forget you can always access Home Access from the school website and directions can be found below. Parent username and passwords were attached to the welcome back letter you received at the end of July. Please call the office if you need that information.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up quickly as well. This fall they will be held on October 9th and 10th. Earlier this week you should have received information about conferences. If you did not receive the information, please call our office so we can make sure we have the correct email address for you. We also have included the link to the newsletter that was sent out below.
The Warhawk students and staff are amazing! Our students have been working hard to meet the expectations of their coursework and push themselves to BE A WARHAWK. Our staff works hard every day to give the Northwood students a safe and engaging environment to learn and grow in. If one of our staff members has gone above and beyond to impact your child and/or family we would love to hear about it. Please use the link below to give a shout to them. The staff loves to hear from our families!
Hope all of you have a safe and enjoyable weekend and week ahead!

6th Grade News
Sixth grade science students have been learning how to measure, how to record data, and how to behave properly and safely in a science laboratory. To test our measuring skills, students brought in a liquid of their choice for our Polymer Challenge. Students were measuring the length, width, height, mass, and volume of their polymer dinosaurs.
Students took data over 5 days to form a claim as to which liquid causes the polymer to grow the most. Students are working on sharing and analyzing their data for their class, as well as with other classes. Students will provide data as their evidence for which liquid made it change the most. Some dinosaurs grew, while others did not. Students will research polymers to find out why certain liquids worked better than others.
Be on the lookout for a Ground Water Festival on 9/26, as well as a trip to the Sewer Plant on 9/27.
7th grade News
7th grade social studies classes are busy investigating how early Americans arrived in North America. We are using many note-taking strategies to lead our investigation and are beginning the writing process to show mastery.
Seventh grade students have been reading a novel of their choice in literacy class; hopefully your student has been reading 10-20 minutes at home every night, too. Students have their first book project due Tuesday, October 15, 2019.
