Principal's Message
Dear Boone School Community,
We are now six weeks into remote learning. While we have learned quite a lot about what is working at different grade levels, we also acknowledge that there are many different ways to design a schedule, and there are many differing opinions regarding the best option. Over the past two weeks, we have met with multiple teacher teams to discuss survey results and feedback from parents, students, and staff. This week I observed in classrooms where students discussed and debated our current schedule as well as additional schedule proposals. Across CPS, students, families and staff are providing their feedback, and it is wonderful to see that our own students are finding ways to advocate for themselves and ensure their voices are heard. In case you missed it, one of our 8th grader's petition efforts made it all the way to the Chicago Tribune this week!
Please know that we plan to continue to engage in dialogue with students, families, and staff, as well as consult with other CPS schools that are trying different models as we weigh the benefits and drawbacks of different schedule proposals. Thank you again to all students and families who have provided feedback via survey and discussion. With your input, we will keep trying to improve our program to best meet everyone's needs.
With gratitude,
Jackie Delaney, Principal
Latinx and Hispanic Heritage Month
Latinx and Hispanic Heritage Month has been an opportunity to celebrate all the past, present and future contributions of our Latinx community. While our goal is to have students engage with an inclusive curriculum that uplifts the identities of all students all year long, we also want to acknowledge and appreciate National Hispanic Heritage Month as an additional opportunity to celebrate Hispanic and Latinx culture. Take a look at some of the work of our student projects from rooms 209 and 212:

Parent Portal
Parent Portal gives parents the ability to view students' grades in real time. If you are setting up your Parent Portal account for the first time, please visit the First Time Parent Portal Set-Up link. This is a one-time step and not necessary after every school year. Once you receive your email from Aspen to help set up your username and password, you can access Parent Portal at Aspen Parent Portal.
If you already have a Parent Portal account, but are running into technical issues (forgot password, locked out, etc), please email Boone's tech coordinator Patrick Chi (ptchi@cps.edu) so he can reset your account. Once your account is reset, you should receive an email from Aspen with further instructions. Additional information provided by the district can be found at this link.
