A Message from the Director
Wow! Every time I close by eyes, one day is gone and a new day begins. This tells me that the year is on its way! I am super enthused about it and I can't wait to get started with each of you!
This weekend, I am preparing to spend some quality time with my husband, for our anniversary! I have had the privilege of sharing my life with such a loving and supportive man for the last 15+ years, and I couldn't be more excited to continue living life with him. He gives me strength and support. He ensures that I have the necessities, provides for our family, and he even tells me when I'm wrong (in a loving way of course). Can you believe that I could be wrong? (haha) I am so grateful for what we've been able to accomplish together.
You may wonder why I've shared my anniversary with you, and of course, it is for you to tell me happy anniversary- just kidding. The truth is, that it gives me hope for us and our campus. We are not perfect, but as long as we provide each other with strength and support, we can accomplish anything. As long as we hold each other accountable to exhibit excellence at all times (speaking up when one is wrong), we can accomplish anything. As long as we provide the necessities for both ourselves and our scholars to be successful, we can accomplish anything. The point is, we must establish a culture that is caring, accountable, supportive, structured, fun, and simply excellent!
It is our responsibility to make our year what we want it to be. So what will you do to add to the culture we create? What will you do to ensure that the experience you desire to have comes to fruition? How will you pour into someone on the days that you notice their energy level is low? What will you do? Think about these questions and prepare to discuss them when we return.
As we embark upon the journey of improving the lives of those who will one day take care of us, I get excited, a myriad of emotions take over me, and I can't help but smile in anticipation of what is to come for UHPMS.
Let's get ready to rock this year!
The DreamTeam Will Fight!
All My Best,
-Director Parks

A MESSAGE FROM DEAN BAUGHMAN
Greetings and Welcome to the Hampton Family!
I hope that you are enjoying your summer, getting much needed family time and relaxation! Below you will find the link for our “Middle School Years” activity that we will do on the first day we return July 23rd. This activity is designed to engage all of us in reflections regarding our own middle school years. The goal is that collectively we will be able to find the parallels between our middle school years and our scholars. When you click the link it will take you to a google slide form that has questions for you to answer, you will also see a comment box with additional questions if you feel more comfortable with those. Also, there is a space for you to add your middle school photo(s). Thank you so much for participating and I hope you find this as fun and funny as we have!

A MESSAGE FROM DEAN SMALLS
Good day team,
I hope that everyone is enjoying the rest of their summer. It is so muggy outside. Whew!!! 12 days until we meet!!! We have an awesome and epic year to get prepared for. Please know that whatever you need do not hesitate to ask. My goal is to be the best and most consistent support that I can be. I look forward to being help achieve all of the goals that the UHPMS team sets out to accomplish. In preparation for our success, it is of vital importance to be extremely focused. One of the areas that I have been diligently working on is creating a vision of culture. Listed below is our vision of culture.
"The vision of Hampton Preparatory Middle School is to create an environment and culture that is open-minded in thinking and initiative. Where the hope of excellence in our children is a given and not an impossible dream. Where, everyone; including, teachers and scholars alike will have the opportunity to enjoy an enriching and fulfilling environment. In a climate that is energized through positivity and creativity."
Read this vision to yourself and when you come back let me know your thoughts. We are going to engage in various activities centered on our vision for culture. Enjoy your summer and remember in order to make a big difference in life you must subtract the least from the greatest.

A Message from Special Education Coordinator Mrs. Jones
Let me introduce myself lol, “The Humpty Dance,” if you know that song you are up in age like me. I am the Special Education Coordinator. I have been in education for 12 years. I received my Master’s degree in Education leadership and Supervision from University of Phoenix. I love playing softball and travels with a team to play. I have 2 sons and 3 grandkids that I adore. Education for my special needs scholars, are the upmost importance. “I will advocate for them, I’m going to advocate for them.” Teaching can be a discouraging job. But even in the hardest days, know that you are not wasting your time. What you do does matter. Your labor is not in vain.
More boys than girls are being diagnosed with learning disabilities. Nearly four times as many boys are diagnosed with LD, but that doesn’t mean that there’s a gender discrepancy in having a learning disability. It’s just that many girls are going unidentified or treated for their LD. Be aware, girls are more quiet and usually fly under the radar for behavior. Teachers, make sure that you are asking them questions and getting feedback.
Be informed....
