"Auburn Pride Starts Inside"
November 20, 2020
Dear Auburn Families,
We had an amazing assembly today! The Auburn Ambassadors announced a spirit week that we will be having the week of 12/7. Please see the topics below. I am so excited for our student leadership to be taking the lead on this community building event. I am looking forward to seeing what else they will be doing to unite us while we are all remote! I have also challenged all students to send me a picture, video or email with something that they are grateful for. All students who participate will be submitted for a raffle for a free pizza! We will also be placing all of them on our Facebook page.
Looking ahead, we will be having another supply pick up on Tuesday, December 1st from noon until 5:00. Please plan on driving through the bus loop to pick up your students' materials. At this time, you can drop off any books that you are ready to return. You can also drop off cans/bottles and buy Buddy or Auburn masks at that time as well!
Have a wonderful weekend,
I am so proud and honored that our community has stepped up to support Auburn! We are only $500 away from our goal of $10,000. If you know of a company who would like to support us and make a donation so that we can meet our goal, please let us know!
There are still masks for sale and I would love to come drop some off at your house. Please call the main office if you are interested in buying some.
We will continue to collect cans and bottles until November 30. If you would like to donate your bottles and cans, please leave the bag of empties at the Auburn Elementary Main Entrance doors.

Have a Healthy Thanksgiving!
Some families celebrate Thanksgiving and reflect on what they are thankful for. Often times this celebration takes place over a shared feast with family.
Trivia: Can you think of a vegetable that people often have as their holiday dessert?
Your meal can feature other great-tasting fall veggies like sweet potatoes and orange or yellow squashes. Another big component of the meal is often turkey, which is a lean meat if you don’t eat the skin! If your family is hungry and the meal isn’t quite ready, cut up some fruits and veggies for them to munch on. Offering these foods when children are hungry is a great way to increase their acceptance of them. Have a happy and healthy holiday and don’t forget to add some physical activity into your weekend!
Posiivity Project (P2) - Gratitude
- It is important to be thankful for each day that we have.
- It is important to say “thank you” as often as possible.
- I am grateful for the people in my life and all the help they’ve given me.
- I wouldn’t be where I am without my family, friends, and teachers.
- Even difficult experiences provide a reason to be grateful. They allow us to learn and grow.
“Today, I choose to live with gratitude for the love that fills my heart, the peace that rests within my spirit, and the voice of hope that says all things are possible.”— Anonymous
We need Your Help with Our Yearbook!
We need your help! With the school year starting off remotely (and now continuing remotely), we have no fun photos of our students to include in the 2020-2021 yearbook. We still want to have fun memories of this school year that include our amazing students! It would also be a great way to include pictures of your children if you were not able to attend Picture Day.
Below will be a google link for you to attach pictures of your children. There is a folder for each grade, Leadership, Girl Scouts, and Spirit Week. Please send any photos you have to these various folders. We can’t guarantee that we can use all the photos shared with us, but we will do our best to include as many as we can.
If you’re unable to attach your photo, please feel free to email a copy of the photo to email@example.com or Karin.Koberstein@avondaleschools.org with your child's name and which grade or group you would like the picture to be added.
Here is the link to the folders, please place your photo in the proper folder.
Thank you for helping us create memories of this most unexpected school year.
