Important Notes
Here are a few important reminders:
- If your child will go home a different way than usual, you will need to write a note. If I do not have a note saying they will go home a different way, I will send them home their normal way.
- If you have any extra boxes of tissues, we would be very happy to have them. We go through them very quickly.
- Please, please make sure your child has a supply of pencils and a dry erase marker (black works best). I have depleted my supply of dry erase markers for the year.
- All Moore County's Soil and Water Poster Contest entries are due to me by December 16. Remember, this is an extra credit opportunity for Science. Entry details were sent last month home.
- SFL will collect canned foods from December 14 - December 17. The class that collects the most cans will earn a pizza party.
- SFL fourth graders will collect dry pet food as part of our Pet Responsibility program until December 17, which is the finale of our program.
Soil and Water Posters due Wednesday, December 16!!!
Posters must follow the guidelines given out in November. Due to time limits, no late posters will be accepted. This will be the only extra credit opportunity in Science for the year.
CONGRATULATIONS!!
Congratulations go out to our own Kyleigh McNeill. She represented SFL well in the NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick competition at the Panthers/Falcons game on Sunday, December 13 with second place! Kyleigh got to enjoy some time with the Panthers, even getting an high five from Cam Newton! We are so proud of you, Kyleigh!
Math Notes
We are getting to the end Module 3.This week we will review factors, multiples, and prime and composite numbers. After the break, we will return to division, but to greater place values. After that, we will end our module with two-digit by two-digit multiplication. Of course, after our module is complete, we will have an end of module assessment. Please have your child practice their math facts over the break. It is a fast, easy way to help them when they return to school.
Science Notes
We are continuing our rocks and minerals unit. We are now learning all about the three types of rocks (igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic), how they are formed, and the rock cycle. I have asked students to hold off bringing in their own personal rocks to share until after we have finished reading our text,
