Academy of the Arts at Bransom
September 18-22, 2017 (School Days 20-24)
A Note From Your Principal
Along with the great success of Grandparents' Day, we want to celebrate the success of our first Scholastic Book Fair of the year. Mrs Cech and the many volunteers she guided through the process did an amazing job. We sold over $15K worth of product which translates into books in students' hands along with a few posters, erasers, and gadgets. The profits will return to us through product from the Scholastic company as well as cash to spend in the library. Wow! As we work hard to increase the capacity to get books in students' hands we also increase our students' ability to read. This is a primary goal of our staff and parents as well. We believe when a student reads "on level," they have a better capacity to learn "on level" science concepts, math concepts, and social studies concepts. Better readers = better learners. Thanks for helping us increase capacity and skills.
Most of our clubs got underway last week with great success. We look forward to the remaining clubs beginning this week. We are sorry that we were unable to accommodate all students during this semester but there will be more opportunities next semester. Most Academic UIL Club practice sessions will run from September 19th through December 7th. We know that in the arts as well as in our academics, REHEARSALS are necessary to be the best one can be. Waiting to the last minute to rehearsal usually ends in disaster. We want to defend our title of the Best Overall in the academic competition so sign up and start your rehearsals this week.
I want to invite each of you to Curriculum Night on Tuesday evening. There will be two sessions to choose from to attend. The first session will begin at 5:30 and the second session will begin at 6:15. The two sessions are to accommodate families to multiple children as well as busy schedules of our families. The information will be the same for both sessions.
Finally, I want to remind everyone that Wednesday is the final day to return Big Kahuna Fundraiser orders and money. Please 1) make sure your child's name, teacher's name, and a telephone number are on the packet envelope in case there is a question; 2) the orders and the money match; and 3) all of the money is sealed in the envelope. The longer it takes to check all of the orders and money, the longer it takes to get the orders processed. We do not want to delay the shipment delivery.
Thanks again for choosing the Academy of the Arts at Bransom for your child's education. We know you have a choice and we are so glad you chose us.
Respectfully,
Joy Burchfield
