What We're Learning
Math - Unit 6 - The students have been working really hard on finding the quotient to a division problem. We have finally worked our way up to four digit dividends! As always, please help your child study their math facts as these are an important part of the division process. We will be moving into angles as part of our geometry spiral in this unit. A test will happen before Spring Break.
Writing -Our current unit of study is Feature Articles. Students in both classes have picked a historical topic. Students have finished drafting, revising, and editing and have begun the process of digitally publishing their piece. They have been busy adding pictures and text features to their articles. My expectation is that all articles are complete by today, February 16.
Science - Students have just completed their unit of study on electricity. They topped off their learning with a series circuit performance event. They are also working very hard on creating and writing testable questions. We have created a scale and are looking forward to applying it to our learning.
Social Studies - The adventures of Lewis and Clark has begun and lasts for the next couple of weeks!!
ASK YOUR STUDENTS ABOUT........
Writing - What have they learned the most about themselves as a writer during this unit? What are their strengths? What do they still need to work on?
Math - Ask them to tell you what they have learned in math this week? Have them show you how to solve a division problem using partial quotients.
Reading - Telling the difference between first-hand accounts and second-hand accounts in informational texts. What is the benefit of each of them?
