CJHS "Chargers Connection"
January 13, 2023

From the Principals...
Happy New Year! The new year is upon us and our students have begun 2nd semester CHARGER STRONG! Our staff took time to welcome students back to school, have fun together with team building activities, and reviewed our school-wide PBIS expectations. We will also continue to review what it means to be a CHARGER as we go through the 2nd half of the school year!
Reminder there is no school on Monday due to observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. As always, if you need anything, do not hesitate to reach out to us!

Bus Expectations
- Bus behavior has the same expectations as the school/classroom.
- Students should be waiting at their bus stop on time.
- Enter and exit the bus only when the bus is fully stopped.
- Choose a seat and sit in it immediately upon entering the bus. Do not stand in the entrance or in the aisle.
- Do not move from one seat to another while on the bus.
- While on the bus and while the bus is in motion, students must stay in their seats with arms and legs out of the aisle and/or windows.
- Please keep voice level low to minimize distractions to the bus driver.
- Reminder the cell phone use should be appropriate. There should be no taking pictures, movies, or recordings while on the bus.
School Dress Code
- Student dress (including accessories) may not advertise, promote, or picture alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, violent behavior, or other inappropriate images.
- Coat and sunglasses may not be worn in the building during the school day.
- Clothing that fails to adequately cover the body will not be permitted.
- Appropriate foot wear must be worn at all times. Slippers and shoes with wheels are prohibited.
If students have any questions regarding acceptability of a particular item of clothing, please see the Associate Principal, Mrs. Fitzgerald, before wearing the items to school.
Please note that a student whose dress does not follow these guidelines will be asked to correct the violation before returning to class.
Cell Phones & Earbuds
Silent and Away During the School Day!
Cell phones are to be on silent and not visible. Students will not be permitted to have them at lunch or passing periods. If you need to give a message to your child, please contact the school office and we will gladly deliver it.
Earbuds may be used during class for instruction, however, students should put them away when they are in the hallway or transitioning from classroom to classroom. They are not allowed in the lunchroom.
School Day
Procedures for leaving school early
When possible, students are encouraged to come back to school after medical visits to avoid missing learning.
Reporting Absences
For all absences, a student will be permitted to make up any missed work, including homework and tests. The student is responsible for obtaining assignments from his/her teachers.
Standards Based Grading...
Here is a quick graphic to illustrate what a 4, 3, 2, 1 means. Do not think of it as a 4 = an A. The objective is for all our students to master learning standards and receiving a 3 means they are meeting requirements for that standard. I hope this helps a little to clear things up!!

Testing season is upon us and our EL students will begin with ACCESS testing...

From our CJHS PTO...

Help support our CJHS PTO Unraiser!!
Thank you to all our families who have donated to our PTO Unraiser! We still need your help!!
Each year, the Chiddix PTO asks all families for a financial contribution to help our PTO. 100% of the money raised will be used at Chiddix for students and teachers. A suggested donation of $25 per family will provide extra support for CJHS students and staff.
The “unraiser” provides another option for parents and guardians to financially support the CJHS PTO since this is our one and only school fundraiser!! In previous years, your contribution has helped to provide funding for additional classroom materials such as document cameras for the Math Department, Digital Projector for the IMC, laminating materials for the office, and teacher appreciation days just to name a few.
Please complete the form below or contribute online via PayPal:
