Principal's Post
Hightower Elementary 8/23/21
Message from Mrs. Price
We will celebrate our Principals Book of the Month Kick-Off this Friday. Principals Book of the Month (PBOM) is a schoolwide program that creates a culture of reading and encourages students to develop a love for reading. A book is selected for each month. I will read the book to the entire school, and students will act out the book as it is being read. Unfortunately, we cannot invite parents and guests to participate as we have in the past. The book will be read virtually and students will participate on Microsoft Teams.
Reminders for Morning Arrival
Safety is the priority!
- Please be kind to the carpool volunteers who are charged with keeping all children safe. Follow all traffic laws and other directives by our staff in an effort to keep our students safe.
- Be patient. You may arrive for drop-off as early as 7:15 a.m. We will have teachers on duty at 7:15 a.m. to unload cars.
- Please do NOT get out of your car while in the carpool lane.
- Be prepared to have your child to exit the car quickly. Backpacks and school items should be in the car with your child. It takes a bit of time to get these items out of the trunk or rear hatch.
- Watch for pedestrians.
- Consider riding the bus. We have staff available to receive bus riders at 7:00 a.m., so please have your child ride the bus. We start school at 7:50 a.m. and this is a good way to ensure they are on time.
- Announcements begin at 7:45. Students should be in their seat and ready for the day to begin. Please arrive before 7:45 so that students are on time.
- Thank you for helping us keep our children safe!

Mask Wearing Protocols & COVID Safety

Classrooms and restrooms will be sanitized throughout the day and at the end of each day. Students will socially distance to the greatest extent possible throughout each day. Students should bring a reusable water bottle to school each day. Reusable water bottles can be used at our bottle refilling stations throughout the building.
What happens when a student needs to quarantine?
1. The teacher will provide the student with an independent learning packet and/or assignments.
2. The teacher will make contact with the student daily to provide instructional support (this will be done during a teacher's planning period, before, and/or after school).
3. The student will be marked as present in Infinite Campus attendance.
