Learning Today... Feeding Your Professional Soul
We all need at least one person with whom we can connect.
A colleague of mine posted this on Twitter about a week ago:
We asked all our students to write down the name of an adult in the school that they trusted... an adult they could talk to if they needed someone. 38 kids did not have one. We talked about this as a faculty today. This is NOT ok. EVERY kid needs to feel connected! @SteeleThoughts
As the principal in this school, this was very valuable feedback. He wants to ensure that all students have an adult to whom they can turn when they are in need.
When I was in school, I feel certain that my teachers did not see it as their responsibility to develop a relationship with me; rather, they saw their responsibility as teaching me the content (it wasn't even really their responsibility to make sure I learned the content!). But there were teachers who did develop a relationship with me and when that happened I was most successful in school.
Today it is more important than ever that our students feel as though they have an adult within the school system they can trust and go to when they are in need. And it's also important for us to be sure we know that all students have that need met.

Teachers Moving Buildings
If teachers are transferring to a different school building next year, including shared staff with a new “primary” school, the Technology Department asks that the teacher leave their laptop at their previous school and pick up their new laptop at their new school. If the new “primary” school does not have a laptop for them, please contact the Technology Department and will supply the school with a new laptop.
