#TeamPenn WAG
August 24 - 28, 2020
Last week of August coming up!
Teachers: I have studied the Accounting for Attendance During Distance Learning document from Cliff and will be sending a separate message and video on the topic early next week. I suggest you all familiarize yourself with it in the meantime. Although the document is 4 pages long, it's very clear when you read it.
I know we are all definitely thinking of our colleagues, friends, and families, affected by the fires either directly or indirectly. What a difficult time. Please reach out to Lisa Schulz if you need someone to listen or help you process all that's going on in the world. Lisa has asked me to make sure you know she's available to support you as needed.
Just WAIT until you see the Around the World Wednesday video for the week!
Still holding on to hope,
Amy

From Laurie Lutz to Teachers:
Hi Teachers,
I hope all is going well for you. I have added a fun Read Aloud and a video showing students how to use our online library catalog. I hope you have time to access and share.
Also, there are some fun short book talks and book trailers available to you. We will be checking out books again soon and these videos will get the kiddos excited about which books they want to read! Here's a link to my Digital Library

Updated CORE and a fabulous resource for teaching virtually...(from Dana Gottlieb)
This updated CORE screener is much clearer and way more user-friendly in google slides. Renee Nealon from McDowell did all the fancy stuff. Please note when you get to the H1 section, cvce words, I didn't have the tech savvy to make it nice work like Renee did. If anyone wants to update, please do so and then share. Using this should be even clearer for the kids across a screen.

Teachers navigating tech tools with all the links
Here's my new favorite spreadsheet that has vetted free resources and links to tons of links to brief "how-to" videos by teachers for different aspects (ex, specific zoom tutorials, accessibility features, student engagement, etc). It's super user-friendly and all videos have been updated since March. There are also links to virtual magnetic letters, name pickers, etc. They continue to update this sheet. Some are specifically related to early literacy but most are more general. Produced by University of Florida Literacy Institute's virtual teaching hub.
And I've become such a geek with using UFLI virtual teaching reading tools. It's a bit overwhelming but an amazing resource with tons of teaching videos and user-friendly teaching templates. I wish this website existed in March.
