Message from the Principal
Just like that, we completed our first full week of school! Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to make schedule changes in order to reflect our enrollment needs, ensure proper placement, and to meet teacher contractual class sizes. The deadline to balance classes is Thursday, August 4th, so we hope to have all changes completed by then.
Last week, we received word that all Open House sessions would now be virtual. As a result, our Open House will be held via Google Meet on Thursday, August 11th. It will start at 5:15pm with a Parent Webinar & Welcome with MVA Administration, counselors, attendance coordinator, community liaison, and our nurse, followed by class visitations starting at 6pm. More information to come, but please save the date because we would love to "see" you!
I cannot emphasize enough how important is it is for students to get to class on time before the bell rings. The goal is to have all students present and ready to engage in learning. Starting August 1st, consequences for students caught in Tardy Sweeps will be implemented. The first three violations will result in a lunch detention. After that, the consequence progresses to an an after-school detention. A warning bell sounds one minute before the tardy bell, so students know once they hear that, they only have 60 seconds left to get to class. Please help us in encouraging your children to get to class on time!
Sadly, we have received word about anonymous social media accounts that have been made to demean other students or staff members. We encourage parents to check their children's social media pages frequently to monitor the information posted and the accounts they follow. Also, students can have more than one accounts, so be sure to click the profile button on the bottom right of their screen to see other accounts connected. Administration will continue to investigate and issue disciplinary action to any students found to be connected with these anonymous accounts. If you have any information, you can report it anonymously via p3tips.com.

Remember, there is no guarantee you will get one of your top 3 choices, but we will try our best! If you do not select a SIG by the deadline, one will be selected for you. You will not be able to switch SIGs until the beginning of Semester 2.

Free Universal Snack and Lunch
As with the last two years, all students will be able to participate in the free universal program offered in California. This means that your children will be able to eat one (1) free breakfast and lunch every day. Although meals are free, we ask that you still complete this form HERE as it helps to provide the school with additional funding. Copies of this form went home with your child on the first day of school. Please be sure to fill it out and have your child return it to their advisory teacher.
