October 16, 2023
The RHS staff want to extend their heartfelt thanks to all families attending our recent Parent-Teacher Conference. Your active participation and dedication to your child's education is greatly appreciated.
The conference provided an invaluable opportunity for us to discuss your child's progress, strengths, and areas for improvement. Your engagement and insightful questions during the conferences were truly remarkable.
We look forward to continuing this journey together and working hand in hand to support your child's academic and personal growth. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or our school staff.
Warm regards,
Dr. Giovanna San Martin

RHS Building Connections with Dimmitt Middle School Honors and IB Program
Eigth graders from Dimmit Middle School visited Renton High School this past Friday. They had a great experience attending classes with IB students at Renton High School. It was wonderful to see the RHS and DMS students connecting. Shout outs came from Dimmitt MS to the RHS staff for welcoming their scholars, and to their scholars for jumping right into the learning! Thanks to Mr. Collie for helping make this happen. We hope that this is an opportunity we can present to more of our Dimmitt Middle School scholars throughout the year.

Diversity Calendar for Week of October 16th
As a diverse, multicultural, internationally-minded school, Renton High wants to acknowledge as many cultural celebrations in our community as possible. If you as a student, family, or staff member would like us to recognize an upcoming event, please contact Mr. Collie, our IB Coordinator.
Throughout October we recognize:
LGBT History Month celebrates the achievements of 31 lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender Icons. Each day in October, a new LGBT Icon is featured with a video, bio, bibliography, downloadable images and other resources.
National Disability Employment Awareness Month en Español
National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) celebrates the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities past and present and showcases supportive, inclusive employment policies and practices that benefit employers and employees. ODEP has chosen "Advancing Access and Equity" as the theme for NDEAM 2023.
October 15 is White Cane Safety/Awareness Day . This day recognizes people who are blind and visually impaired.
October 15 - 23 is Navrarti, a very important Hindu celebration taking nine days and nights to worship Goddess Durga. Observance includes fasting, so please be mindful for your Hindu students in the same way that we support Muslim students during Ramadan.
October 16 is a Baha'i celebration - the Birth of the Bab. The Bab is the precursor to Baha'u'llah, the founder of the Baha'i faith.
October 19 is Spirit Day, a day to stand up against anti-LGBTQ discrimination and bullying. Many people wear purple in recognition of this day.
October 20 is a Sikh Holy Day celebrating the installation /birth of Guru Granth, the central religious scripture of Sikhism

Washington State Healthy Youth Survey 2023
Our school is participating in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey during fall 2023. The survey will be given to students in Grades 6, 8, 10 and 12 in large districts and students in Grades 6 through 12 in small school districts.
The Healthy Youth Survey includes questions related to physical activity and diet, unintentional and intentional injury, substance use, sexual behaviors, abuse, risk and protective factors, and access to school-based services. Survey results are used by schools, communities, and state agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks.
Participation in the survey is voluntary and the students’ answers are anonymous. There are no codes or information used to match a survey to a student.
