Parenting in the Digital Age (Our VOICE): Unsure what things like cyberbullying and sexting are, or how to deal with them? Learn more about tools to help your children use social media responsibly.

AVID 101 (Asheville City Schools): Come out and learn about how AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) can help support your child's academic skills, critical thinking, and academic behaviors like organization, time management, and goal setting.

Complete Kids (Complete Nutrition): Get movin' and groovin' and shaking with us and learn how a healthy lifestyle can positively impact you today! This workshop is geared towards younger children with an emphasis on making physical activity both fun and educational.

Raising Children Who Listen: The Power of Positive Parenting at Jones Elementary

Although harsh discipline can seem like the answer at times, Triple P teaches parents the strategies of positive reinforcement and good teaching, in the hopes that both parent and child can be happy and healthy.

Motheread and M.A.N.O.S.

Monday, Oct. 19th, 6-8pm

59 Adams Hill Road

Asheville, NC

Motheread combines literacy skills with personal growth, child development, and professional skill-building. Plus, attendees will build community and make new friends! M.A.N.O.S. takes place concurrently. This program is created to serve Latino students from 8th, to 12 grade. On Mondays, Latino students get assistance with their homework, leadership development, and college- readiness. Childcare is provided and previous registration required. For both M.A.N.O.S. and Motheread, spaces are limited and registration is required. Please call Norma Duran Brown at (828)-252-4810.

Playing for Success from the YMCA at Hall Fletcher Elementary

Tuesday, Oct. 20th, 9-11am

By kindergarten, children already face the disparities. In this weekly event, a facilitator will lead caregivers in preparing children for kindergarten. Located in the YMCA room. No registration required! T/TH

GED Tutoring with AB Tech at Pisgah View Resource Center

African Dance at Asheville High's Dance Studio

Let West African Dance experts teach you dance choreography! Some drummers and dancers may even be invited to perform in the larger Asheville community and at the LEAF festival. Every Tuesday until December 15 in the Dance Studio. All are welcome!

Attend this program that combines literacy skills with child development, adult growth, and professional skill development. Adults and children will use the power of language to discover more about themselves, their families, and their communities. Plus, attendees will build community and make new friends! No registration required. Takes place in the Hillcrest Resource Center, Apt. 17A. Includes free childcare and snacks from Whole Foods!

Circle of Parents from FIRST

Wednesday, Oct. 21st, 5:30-7pm

Circle of Parents provides a friendly, supportive environment led by parents and other caregivers. It is place where anyone in a parenting role can openly discuss the successes and challenges of raising children and where parents and caregivers can find and share support.
