Leadership Message
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”
-William Butler Yeats
If you had the blessing of walking our halls at any time this week, you would have been filled with a sense of wonder and joy at the amazing learning happening at Saint John XXIII! Every day we get to hear and see kids and staff engaged in thinking, connecting, exploring, innovating, collaborating and sharing their inquisitive minds! Every moment of everyday there is a child celebrating a learning milestone and discovering their potential. This week especially was filled with so many beautiful moments and while there are so many to share, we will highlight a few below to give you a glimpse into our Saint John XXIII village of learners!

Congratulations to our SJXXIII Choirs and Mrs. Schaub!
Congratulations to the Saint John XXIII Choirs for their performances at the Fort Saskatchewan Music Festival Monday! Both choirs received an honour with distinction rating, which is fantastic! Not only did they sing beautifully but they were excellent representatives of our school. Thank you for your commitment and hard work! Thank-you to Mrs. Schaub for all her work and dedication to our choir this year! Thanks to all of our parents who were able to join us!
Student Learning Progress: Communicating Together at Conferences
Our SJXXIII Families are Proud of US-Bulletin Board!: There will be an opportunity during conferences to share what about your child's learning this year you most proud of? Perhaps they have persevered through a challenge, learned to read, expanded their writing skills, developed leadership skills,...be ready to share your good news on a "Brag Tag" and place on our bulletin board right outside the office!
Beware Prankster Patty and Leprechauns! Our Saint John XXIII Innovators are determined to catch you!
Students worked together to design and create Leprechaun Traps today. Traps are set and we will wait and see what happens this weekend! It was awesome to see the engagement and innovation!
A letter from Prankster Patty was delivered during our assembly last Monday and read by Mrs. Comartin. We have included the letter so you can share in the excitement!

Saint John XXIII School Council News
Conference Connections with School Council: Our School Council Executive wants to connect with our parents of Saint John XXIII to share important aspects of our School Council and how you can be involved and share your voice. As a parent in our school community, you are also automatically a member of the School Council and we would love to connect with you. At our conferences. Tuesday, March 19 and Wednesday, March 20 members of our School Council will be in the front entrance greeting parents and sharing information. We will be inviting parents to sign up as class reps which would entail attending School Council meetings.
We also have the blessing of one of our families who owns M & M Meats that has offered to share a percentage of their food sales over a period of time with our school. Information will be available at our School Council table at conferences. Order forms will made available to you should you choose to support this fundraiser. Many thanks to Gillian and Cole Reich for their generosity!
