Tēnā koutou katoa
Ngā mihi nui, kia koutou katoa - Warm greetings to you all.
It was wonderful to see our Pasifika, Kapa Haka and the Year 0/1 cohort perform last week. It is always such a proud moment for us as staff and I am sure for you as parents too. Learning waiata (songs) and dance movements takes time and a commitment to new learning. Public performances give our learners a valuable chance to showcase their hard work and progress. An appreciative audience makes it even more special, thank you to those whānau who were able to come along. A huge thank you to our TPS staff who make these extra experiences possible for our students: Jeremy Hantler, Kylie Rae, Kelly Savage, Jen West and Sarah Arnesen for Kapa Haka and Pasifika groups and the year 0/1 teaching and support staff team for the Under the Sea show.
Staffing for 2023 has been confirmed, with very few changes to the class teacher lineup:
Junior Team:
Pam Wilkins (Team Leader)
Jen West, Jana Smith, Emma Hyett, Fiona Brown, Briar Parker, and Michaela Murray.
Sarah Arensen will start the New Entrant roll growth class in Term 3
Middle Team:
Jason Morgan (Team Leader)
Liz Catley, Kelly Savage, Luka Jugum, Arlette Goodhue
Senior Team:
Jo Howard (Team Leader)
Paul Mahler, Joy Beattie, Kirsty Thorne (returning from leave) and Dave Medley
Mariska van Staden has won a teaching position at Matua Primary School for 2023. Mariska has been with TPS for a year and a half and has done a wonderful job; she will be missed by us all.
The children will have an opportunity to meet and spend some time with their 2023 class teacher on the 13th of December. Parents will receive a notice that day confirming the teacher and class their child will be in next year.
If your child/ren is leaving the school next year, please notify the school office as soon as possible so that we can accommodate this change in our planning.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our school.

TPS School Events
TPS is a SUN SMART SCHOOL
Please support us to keep everyone safe in the sun.
Please apply sunblock before coming to school. All classes have sunblock accessible to children. Children do need to be able to apply sunblock themselves; this is a good life skill to learn early. If your child has a special sunblock that they use, please include this in their school bag.
We encourage all our learners to wear a rash shirt for swimming sessions. If your child has a swimming session and also plans to have a lunchtime swim then a rash shirt is compulsory (applies to year 3-6 students).
For any swims over 30 minutes a rash shirt is compulsory. This applies to events such as swimming sports and end of year pool trips.
THE T.P.S. WAY
THE T.P.S. WAY
We are very pleased to announce that our book, THE T.P.S. WAY, written and illustrated by 2022 TPS students, has been professionally printed and we are selling these for $15 each at the office and school shop.
Follow the adventures of George, the skateboarding dog,
who has just moved into Arundel Street.
George decides to explore TPS after hours and gets lost.
Some friendly TPS characters come to the rescue and share some skills and strategies that help George to navigate the challenge he is facing
..... because that's the TPS way.
Every class/whānau group created a page/illustration for the book and a core group of senior students researched and constructed the text. A group of senior students, with skills in art, worked on developing the illustrations of the main characters. See some sample pages below. A copy of the book is available to view in the school office. It is a very special memento of the school year and for our school and it would make a great Christmas gift.

TBC Homestay families
Tauranga Boys' College is on the hunt for homestay families for their international students next year.
Do you have a spare room or two in your house? Are you willing to open your home to an international student, provide them three meals a day, and treat them as a member of your family?
Families who host our international students talk about the joy of experiencing another culture while proudly sharing our New Zealand way of life. These experiences can be life changes for the international student AND the homestay family.
We need families to host groups for 10 days, 1 term, 2 terms & 4 terms!
If this sounds like you please email on homestay@tbc.school.nz or phone 07-557-9065 to enquire about the generous remuneration and hosting requirements.
