PTO- Book Fair Announcement
Our Fall Scholastic Book Fair is about a week away! October 10 - 14, 2022 in the Weiss Media Center. We still need some volunteers to host a successful fair for the students. There are also 2 blocks to run the fair during the Parent Teacher Conferences, this time would allow parents to shop the fair. If you are able to work any time during that block, please message me and I will adjust the schedule! Any help will be appreciated.
Don’t forget that we have the opportunity to use eWallet! This allows families to load funds to a e-giftcard that we scan at the fair, leaving the kids without the worry of holding on to money during the day. At the fair, we will be accepting cash and cards.
A flyer will be going home by the end of the week. If there are any questions please reach out to the PTO at WeissElementaryPTO@gmail.com or drop a comment/message on the Facebook page.

BUS ROUTE INFORMATION FROM OUR TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT
Dear Gibraltar School District Families,
We are sending this message as a proactive notification so families can be informed of circumstances and constraints regarding our busing and transportation department. Additionally to ensure families are prepared in the event of a bus route cancellation.
As you may know, throughout both Michigan and the nation, there is a significant shortage of bus drivers. Gibraltar School District has been fortunate to have most staffing positions filled, which has allowed us to continue all of our daily bus routes. We have begun to experience significant staffing challenges and in order to ensure we can keep all of our routes staffed and on schedule we need students to be at their bus stop 5 minutes early. At this time our drivers cannot wait at a bus stop for students who are running late. Additionally, our fleet cannot circle back for students who miss the bus. Again, we recommend students arrive 5 minutes prior to their pick-up time.
In an effort to combat these staffing challenges, we will continue to actively recruit eligible drivers and provide training to bring more drivers on board. That being said, we may, unfortunately, run into an issue where we do not have enough drivers to cover all scheduled routes forcing us to temporarily suspend the route that your child may use to get to and from school. In the event this happens, we will send notifications to families via ParentSquare with as much notice as possible.
We recognize the inconvenience a cancellation may impose on your family and hope that with this notice, your family may be able to make alternate plans for transportation should that need ever arise. We apologize, in advance, for any inconvenience this uncontrollable situation may cause. As always, we appreciate your continued support of the Gibraltar School District.

Elementary Student Expectations at Carlson Sporting Events
In Gibraltar, we take great pride in our school spirit and fan participation. Elementary students are encouraged to attend sporting events. All non-high school students must be accompanied by an adult for admission to varsity football games. The adult accompanying the school student(s) is responsible for their behavior and well-being throughout the duration of the sporting event.
We also expect our students to demonstrate appropriate behavior while attending these various events. Hanging out under the bleachers engaged in horseplay, hanging on the poles that support the bleachers, and throwing things off the back of the stadium are all behaviors we have unfortunately seen our younger fans engaged in. Not only are these dangerous, but they also do not display the Marauder Pride that we build our reputation on and are known for. Please know that we want and encourage our young Marauders to cheer on the CHS football teams, but we must ensure that the environments on both sides of the stadium are positive and safe and that our youngest Marauder fans are well supervised.
