Staff Spotlights!
Ms. Labiosa
Hi! I am Shirley Labiosa. I have been Administrative Assistant at Meadow Wood Elementary for 21 years. I am a born Houstonian. However, I was very lucky to get to travel and live in many international places. My favorite place was Sydney, Australia where I lived 4 years when my daughter was young.
I have one daughter, Angela (Grad of SHS), who is married to Chris. They have one son Harrison, my 3 year old super grandson (Pictured above)! They live in Kansas City. Even though they live in Kansas we still manage to get together for many family adventures.
It has always been so great to work with and meet all the students and families of Meadow Wood. What a joy to watch the students grow, graduate from high school, get married, etc. through the years.
My favorite things are to spend time with my family and friends, watch sports, and be outside!
Looking forward to another great year at Meadow Wood Elementary!
Mrs. Snelling
I have worked at Meadow Wood for fourteen years. The best part of my job is getting to meet new families and keeping up with many families throughout their years at MWE. This is the icing on the cake for this job.
I have been married 32 years to Jim and we have two sons James and John. James just recently married Emily in August 2020. It is very nice having another female in the family. John is expected to be engaged this year. Yes, within the next month. Exciting times for the Snelling household! We have our sweet Boykin Spaniel, Baylee. She is twelve years old and has had exciting hunting times with the guys.
Any time off, I enjoy fishing with the family in Port O’Connor, gardening and watching ALL college football.
Mrs. Cox
I’m thrilled to be in my 4th year at MWE. I love serving this school and this community; it is THE BEST part of my job. I feel incredibly thankful to have found a job at the best little elementary school around.
I am a native Texan, born here in the suburbs of Houston. I grew up in Jersey Village and attended school in Cy-Fair ISD. I married my high school sweet-heart Robert Cox 29 years ago. (Fun fact…we met in junior high). We have 3 boys; Cooper (25), Keller (22), Cade (18) and our adorable golden doodle, King Louis. Cooper and Keller were both members of SQ 17 in the Corps of Cadets. Cooper is a graduate of TAMU and is working here in Houston. Keller is a senior, leading yells and pursuing his music dreams. Who knows, maybe Cade will head to TAMU soon, as he was accepted into Mays Business School in late September, but is still undecided. (Auburn is his latest acceptance.) He is a senior at Stratford where he plays LAX and is the equipment manager for the football team.
I am a proud graduate of The University of Texas (Hook’em) where I served as the women’s basketball manager while earning my degree. After graduating, I coached basketball and taught high school Home Economics at both Langham Creek HS and Cy-Falls HS in Cy-Fair ISD. Also, over the years, I taught my boys at home.
I enjoy the outdoors and can be found walking often. I love spending time with my family and Louis. If Robert and I are not at a Stratford LAX or football game, we are probably headed to a game in College Station (Gig’em)!

From the President
Hello Eagle Families,
I hope you are all doing well! Here at Meadow Wood, we are counting down to the holidays.
Just a few reminders to make sure you join PTA, make sure you update your child's current teacher in the MTK system, and remember to check below on our Redemption Programs. Various places give Meadow Wood money back each time you spend money there, so go ahead and link up your accounts!
Please also see below for information about Project Study. This is a program that has money dedicated specifically to it that is not otherwise attached to our budget. The money goes to proposals that are voted on by a committee, and the money goes back to our classrooms and teachers! Proposals can be written by parents or teacher or other staff, so please ask your teacher if there is something you could submit for them! Those proposals are due next Friday!
We also have the School Bell Award coming up, so please read below and nominate a staff member who has gone above and beyond this year. We know they all have, so a nomination would mean a lot!
Thanks to everyone for your support,
Catie Winegar
MWE PTA President
School Bell Award
Each year, the SBISD Council of PTAs presents its School Bell Award to an outstanding SBISD Staff Member (teacher, administrator, counselor, specialist, etc.) who promotes the objectives of the PTA and is an advocate for all children. What are the objectives of the PTA, you might ask? Briefly, they are ensuring that every child's potential becomes his/her reality, promoting the welfare of our Eagles in home, school and community, as well as promoting greater cooperation between parents and teachers to enhance the educational well-being of our students.
If you know of any staff member who goes above and beyond for our students and who has had a tremendous impact on the school community, please nominate them. Feel free to enlist the help of students for your nominations. Recent recipients include Tabitha Pena, Ami Rapp, Lynne Luberger, Rhonda DeLeon, Natalie Waggenspack, Jessica Leonard and Laura Weber.
Kindly send the name of your nominee and a description as to why you think they should win the School Bell Award to Keisha Barnes at ksbarnes@gmail.com. Please submit your nominations by Tuesday, December 15th. We look forward to reading them. Our nominee will attend the Founder’s Day Banquet hosted by SBISD council of PTAs in February.

Superintendent's Message
Dear SBISD Family,
At this time of year, I am reminded of how much we have to be thankful for in Spring Branch ISD.
Despite the challenges, or opportunities, presented to us in the last year, as a system we continue to prioritize literacy, numeracy, social-emotional supports and addressing the needs of our English Learners. We have also kept focus on digital expansion and Career & Technical Education (CTE). I could not be more grateful for the important work happening in SBISD.
To our students: Thank you for attending school each day ready to learn and grow. Daily, you motivate us to do our best work and you continue to make our district and community proud.
To our families and community: Thank you for continuing to support our students through the investment of time and engagement. Your support inside the classroom and beyond is critical to help Every Child move closer to achieving T-2-4 success.
To our incredible and hardworking staff: I am thankful for your strength, passion, and support during what can only be described as an unusual year. You are an inspiration!
To our Board of Trustees: I am grateful to this group of individuals, who together, lead with focus and clarity to ensure we are doing what is best for Every Child.
Lastly, I am beyond thankful to serve as your Superintendent. Thank you to every member of the SBISD family for all you do to make our district such a place of pride.
I hope you enjoy a wonderful, safe, and restful holiday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, Nov. 30!
With gratitude,
Jennifer Blaine, Ed.D.
