Examples of Setting
Scenery Setting
The setting of this scene is dark and scary. It instantly makes you feel different about that house even if its a little kids candy shop full of bright colors on the inside.
Time Setting
Knowing what time it is is a big part of setting. If somewhere in the story you don't know it takes place in the 1800's you wont understand why she can't call her mom when someone breaks into the house.
Place Setting
If the book takes place in Alaska it is important to know that. Alaska and Nebraska are two very different places and will give you different expectations in the overall book.
