Miss Cleasby's 4K News

News for the week of September 9th

Welcome!

Thank you for helping your child with the transition to 4K over the past week. The first two days were fantastic and I enjoyed getting to know each student. We are meeting new friends and learning our daily routines.

*This week we are starting our “Bear Theme”. We will be reading and retelling the story Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?. On Friday, each student will bring home a ziploc bag of pictures to keep. Be sure to have your child retell the story to you! Click below to see a video of the Brown Bear book.

*This Thursday we will make our first cooking project! We will be making the "Bear Pawprint" project. Thank you to those of you who have volunteered to bring an item for this project. If anyone else would be willing to donate a cooking project item please e-mail me. Thanks :)

*Next week we will continue our “bear theme” and we will also talk about “colors”. We will be reading and acting out Goldilocks and the Three Bears!

*See below for some pictures of the students exploring our class playtime centers during our first two days of 4K!

*Scholastic Book orders are due Monday, September 16th.You can send the paper order back to school or you can order online at www.Scholastic.com/bookclubs using the class activation code GP4G8. Thanks to those parents who have already placed an online order or sent in the paper order form!

*This Friday, September 13th will be our first library day. The A.M. class goes to the school library on Friday mornings. The P.M. Class goes to the Deerfield Public Library on Friday afternoons. Please help your child remember to bring his or her library book back to school before the next Friday so they are able to check out a new book.

P.M. Class parents-- please place a Deerfield library card in the envelope inside your child's folder if you wish for them to check out a book each week.

* Every Tuesday the school sends home a Tuesday Newsday Folder with the youngest sibling in the family. This means every 4K student will receive one. These are filled with important newsletters, fliers, etc... from the school. Please send the newsday folders back to school each Thursday to be refilled for the next week.
