Summer and Fall ACC classes for Sophomores and Juniors!
Is your student interested in enrolling in Dual Credit Classes offered by Austin Community College? This is a great way to save time and money by earning college credit while also earning required high school credits! Our ACC Dual Credit Advisor spoke with all sophomores this month to review the process for enrollment. Completed co-enrollment forms must be turned in by Tuesday, April 19! See the following link for enrollment steps:

Spring is such a busy time of year for all of us! Please take time this weekend to talk to your student about their current progress in school. Explore with them how they are feeling about school, either academically or socially. Do they feel supported? Do they know where to go or who to ask for help? Do they seem isolated or do they have activities that help them feel "connected" at school? Please feel free to call to discuss any concerns you may have about your student. I can be reached at (512) 267-8300, Ext. 5506. or by email atcindy_slaughter@lagovista.txed.net.
So much going on this month!
Attendance - Things you need to know!
Spring is the time of the year when absences start to pile up. Be sure you are aware of the consequences for your student missing too much school:
3 or more unexcused absences in a 4 week period - warning letter sent home.
10 or more unexcused absences in a 6 month period - truancy charges are filed. Parent, student and school administrator will be summoned to appear in truancy court.
Our campus goal is to reach 96% attendance each day. If a student is at school at 10:00 am (2nd/6th period attendance times), we receive funding for that student for that day. If they are not, we do not receive funding. For this reason, we ask that you plan all non-medical absences from school for times after 10:00 am.
Weird, but true, attendance fact: If your student is present for any part of the school day and leaves for a medical appointment, they won't get counted absent for that day as long as they bring a note. If they are absent for the entire day for a doctor's appointment, they will be counted absent.
Thanks for your support!
Every Wednesday is College Day! Encourage your students to dress in their favorite college's gear!
