Have a wonderful summer Spartans!
SMS Families,
For many of us, this school year has been especially challenging and I’m not just talking about for our students. As an SMS Community, we’ve all had to step up in order to better support our Spartans. So, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for working with us to provide a top flight education in a digital format. While we continue to navigate these uncertain times, I'm confident we will overcome what the future brings, as long as we continue to work together.
For our 8th graders, I wanted to thank all of you for an amazing three years. While this year didn’t end the way we would have hoped, I know that you’ll represent us well at Penn High School.
Have a great summer and I look forward to seeing you all in the future!
Mr. Fry

What incredible opportunities the past few months have brought to our Schmucker community. While our situation has not been ideal, I was and continue to be amazed at how our families and our staff worked together to create the best possible environments and opportunities for our students. Thank you for playing such a pivotal role in your student's education and overall wellbeing during this time. We miss our students deeply and are looking forward to when we can all be together again. Until then, please have a wonderful summer, Spartans!

Survey for Parents
The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) is partnering with Panorama Education to provide each school district 1) a Parent/Caregiver Community Needs Survey, and 2) a Staff Remote Learning and Well-Being survey. These surveys are anonymous. The purpose of the survey would be for Penn-Harris-Madison and the IDOE to use this data to help create plans to address the needs noted by respondents, particularly due to COVID-19. Please note that these surveys are optional. If you would like to complete this optional survey, please go to this link . Then, please click on the appropriate survey (either “Staff” or “Parent & Caregiver”), find “Penn-Harris-Madison School Corp” in the drop down option, and then click the “Take This Survey” button.
Thank you in advance for your time and valuable input.

Chromebooks Over the Summer
All students continuing on to a PHM school should keep their Chromebooks over the summer.
Current 8th graders must turn in their SMS Chromebook and charger to the Penn tech department in August in order to receive their new Chromebook for 9th grade.
If a Chromebook needs repair over the summer, please email Chromebooks@phm.k12.in.us. List the Parent's Name, the Student's Name, the Student's School, the Student's email, and describe the issue or problem with the Chromebook.
If your student is not returning to PHM in the fall, please be sure to notify us immediately and we will give you details about how to return the Chromebook and charger to the school.

Note from the Counselors!
Free $$ for college!
The 21st Century Scholars program is need-based assistance which will help students have the ability to go to college who otherwise may not be able to afford it. The program can save you and your family thousands of dollars on higher education past high school, as well as connect you and your student to other great resources.
The deadline for this opportunity to enroll is JUNE 30 of a student's 8th grade year. Once this date has passed, students cannot enroll while at the high school. Please take the time to visit http://scholars.in.gov/parents/enroll/ to learn more about the program and enroll your student right away before this opportunity is no longer available. Email or call your child's school counselor if you have further questions.
Please see picture below for Summer Food Service Programs!
