Personal Device Policy (aka cell phone policy)
Cell phones are not "banned" at La Mesa. They must simply have them in their backpack off (they may also do airplane mode) once they enter the gate. They can access them again at the end of the school day after they exit the gates.
We also have a FAQ that may answer questions you may have. Access the FAQ HERE.
All Lobos H.O.W.L.
Students will learn about what is expected while at school. Our ALL Lobos H.O.W.L. Matrix is posted throughout the campus and in each classroom. We have a system called HOWL Points in which students are recognized for meeting those expectations. HOWL Points can be used to redeem a variety of items for our HOWL Store through Five Star Students.
What does my child need to know to be ready for junior high?
"4. Be Able To Talk About Academic Issues With Their Teachers"
Applications for each program my be submitted by Friday, May 7th.
Student ID Cards at La Mesa
We also award HOWL Points by scanning the ID. They don't want to miss out on these.
If an ID card is lost or destroyed, it can be replaced in the main office for $5.
The La Mesa Student Care Line
Over the last several years, the William S. Hart Union High School District has placed an emphasis on student wellness. Knowing that a student who feels emotionally supported is more successful, the District set out to open Wellness Centers on each of our campuses, with the first of those opening in August of 2019. Now the District is looking to expand this effort even further by taking the existing Text-A-Tip line and re-branding it as the new Student Care Line, providing a more comprehensive function.
Text-A-Tip has been used by students, staff and families to report something out of the ordinary. With the goal being “If you see something, say something," Text-A-Tip was there to report if someone was wanting to hurt themselves or others, or even if there was the possibility of someone committing a crime.
The new Student Care Line will be broadened to include mental health and wellness concerns. If you are struggling or know someone who is struggling, the Student Care Line will make early intervention possible, allowing for small problems to be handled before they become big problems.
- Trouble controlling emotions
- Withdrawal from friends and usual activities
- Feelings of rejection or solitude
- Feeling constantly disrespected
- Frequent loss of temper
- Increased risk-taking behavior
- Talk of suicide or loss of hope
- Declining school performance
The Student Care Line allows you to confidentially report issues.
Text the problem or issue to 661-524-5166. Your text message will go to an administrator immediately.
Students and families are at their best when their emotional well-being is supported. Please join us in our commitment to this effort by using our Student Care Line when you need it.
At La Mesa, we all look out for one another. We are all responsible for keeping everyone safe.
