Parenting Your Anxious Child or Teen to Be Less Worried, Happier and Calmer

Dr. Jeffrey Bernstein, back by popular demand, will lead a workshop for parents and caregivers of children and teens who suffer from anxiety, fears, nervousness, worry and shyness. Anxiety disorders can cause children to feel trapped in worries and avoid going places and participating in activities. These children are at a higher risk of performing poorly in school, missing out on important social experiences and engaging in substance abuse. However, those who get support and treatment can learn to manage their symptoms and live happier, more productive lives.

Dr. Bernstein will present parenting strategies from his upcoming book, Mindfulness for Teen Worry: Quick and Easy Strategies to Let Go of Anxiety, Worry and Stress (early fall 2017).

You will learn tips to help your child gain the skills needed to immediately stop worries from growing and taking over his or her life, including how to manage the four most common “worry struggles”:

  • School pressure
  • Coping with friendship and relationship problems
  • Improving body image
  • Handling family conflicts
