Booth Hill School
A 2022 National Blue Ribbon School
October is Here!
Dear Booth Hill Families, it's hard to fathom but October is here. As we move into this cooler month, October brings a lot of great experiences for our students. This week we will finalize our Blue-Ribbon celebration schedule. Our week-long celebration will start on October 17 and conclude on October 22. We will send the schedule out to the Booth Hill community later next week. Today, we started celebrating Hispanic Heritage month. Our music teacher, Mr. Prieto, put together a play list that highlights artists such as: Aresenio Rodriguez, Eddie Santiago, Gloria Estefan, Shakira, and Santana (one of my all-time favorites)! that we are playing at the beginning of each day. Music has, and always will be, an important part of our students educational experience. This week we had the great fortune of having members of the Trumbull High School Marching Band come over to play some instruments students can begin playing in grades 3-5. With band and strings lessons starting now, early information indicates that we have over 60 students in our orcherstra. After Trumbull High's performance, I'm sure our band enrollment will be extremely high as well.
On October 7 we conclude our PTA Walk-a-thon by walking our final mile around Booth Hill School. Starting at 10 a.m.The PTA has arranged to have a drone take a whole school picture and to have Bob, the Booth Hill Bobcat, make his first official visit to Booth Hill. Many thanks to the PTA and the parent community that has raised 20, 000. On October 27 the mesmerizing storyteller Len Cabral comes to Booth Hill for two assemblies. Connecting cultures through stories, there is no one quite like Len to bring the gift of storytelling to life for our students. We will have two assemblies- one for K-2 students and one for 3-5 students. Many thanks to the PTA for bringing Mr. Cabral to our Bobcats. Once the calendar turns to October, our students quickly circle one date: October 31 Halloween! Students may dress at home in their Halloween costumes and wear them to school on Monday, October 31. Please do not send your child to school with any fake knives, guns, scary masks, scary make-up, blood painted on their faces, or other props. We do not have the space for students to "change" into their costumes at school.
My best to you and your families for a fantastic weekend.
Sincerely, Dana
