State Testing
We began state testing this week. Our 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th graders have completed the English Language Arts portion of the state test and will not be testing this upcoming week unless they have a make up to complete.
Next week our 3rd graders will be taking the English Language Arts test.
Thank you to all the families that have made sure their children were in school to test, well rested and ready to go.
This year we tested on Chromebooks in the classrooms. We had a lot of success and students shared they enjoyed testing in their classroom environment (vs the computer labs).
We still have testing over the next few weeks, here are somethings you can do at home:
- Encourage a good night sleep
- Give positive affirmations (i.e. notes in their lunches or book bags)
- Talking about the test
- Reading each night
- Ensure that your child is in the habit of arriving to school on time.
- Attend your child's school conference to discuss your students strengths/weakness and how else you can support their preparation!
Testing Dates
We will be testing on chrome books in the classrooms this year. This will allow us to minimize number of days testing by testing larger groups and we are going to test first thing in the mornings.
Testing Dates and information ~ testing will take place from 8:30 -10:30 in the morning (in case you have to schedule an appointment)

Our students have colored puzzle pieces and we hung all of them in the hallway by the gym and main office. The picture is below.
Raising Digitally Responsible Youth ~ A Parent's Guide
Please note, I will highlight sections each week.
This Week's Focus - Social Media App - Instagram (“IG”)
Owned by Facebook, the popular photo-sharing app, Instagram, has over 700 million monthly active users. If you see a youth scrolling up with their thumb on their smartphone looking at photos, chances are they are looking at Instagram.
Hashtags (#) are used often on this platform, grouped together and this gives people a way to be introduced to and follow other users with similar interests.
Privacy Settings on Instagram
On Instagram you either share your posts with everyone by having a public account, or you have a private account and share only with people that you have (ideally) approved to follow you.

SUGGESTED PRIVACY
We recommend that all students should have a private

might be a grade 11-12 student wanting to build their
digital brand and establish an account that university
recruiters and employers can
Outdoor Recess Guidelines
The weather is starting to get a little warmer.
Please make sure your child has the proper clothing to go outside.
