SPOT OBSERVATIONS ANNNOUNCEMENT
FYI- Starting on Monday, January 8th Yoshi and I will resume conducting spot observations. Some of the Spring testing for upper and lower grades will take place earlier this year, so we have to start planning to get your extended observations scheduled.
Pershing Recipients
Congratulations to Patricia Rios and Jose Armendariz for having their literacy projects fully funded through Donors Choose. They submitted literacy proposals that totaled $1000. Jose's project is funding additional tablets for his students and Patricia is adding $500 to her class library.
I-Station MOY
All Kinder through 2nd grade students are expected to take their I-station MOY (middle of year assessments this week. Ms. Ray is available for assistance if you have any questions.
Survey Results
Thank you everyone for participating in the fall climate. We received the results last week and they are now posted on the data wall. Grade team leaders have begun working with us by getting feedback from all grade levels on what we, the admin team, can do to in our 3 lowest areas. Great ideas are pouring in and we have already begun making changes.
This will be the main topic at our meeting on Monday.
We have much to celebrate and be proud of!!

Community Circle Activity ~ Mirroring
Duration: 10-15 minutes Social-Emotional Education: Collaboration and Cooperation
Directions:
Ask the group to form pairs. The pairs can either sit or stand. One partner is Person A and the other is Person B. Invite person A to begin the activity by making motions. Inform the group that the Bs will mirror Person As actions. The goal is for your partner to be successful in mirroring you. After one minute, invite the pairs to exchange roles. Person B will lead, while Person A mirrors. After one minute begin the third round. Now invite the pairs to mirror one another but not to signal to the other person when they will switch roles and exchange leading and mirroring.
Debriefing Questions:
1. What was the experience of being the leader like for you?
2. What was the experience of being the follower like for you?
3. What was your experience like in the third round when there was no clear leader?
4. When did you experience discomfort? If so, how was your discomfort related to
cooperation?
5. Have you experienced a similar type of discomfort when trying to cooperate with others in
the real world? When?
6. How can this activity help you understand issues related to cooperation?
7. How does our level of patience impact our ability to cooperate
