Happy Camper Book Fair Coming Soon!
Our fall book fair was great, so great . . . . that we were able to purchase bean bags and bean chairs, a big reading rug, and many books that students have been asking for! With your help, our Spring fair can be just as good - if not BETTER!
Below are scholastic web sites showing book trailers for books that will be available.
Attendance & Being On Time: Every Day Counts (even at the end of the school year!)
Let's finish the year Prestwick Strong! The school day starts promptly at 8:05 am and ends at 3:40 pm. Let's set those clocks and get students to class early so learning can begin.
Tardies fall into the category of missing parts of days by the state of Texas, and our school also gets a grade based upon our attendance! We did improve this last month, but we are still shy of achieving 98%. BIG SHOUTS OUTS TO 2nd grade and 6th grade, our new attendance champs, and their families as we know it is a community/team effort!! Also, Middle School edge out Elementary level students by just a bit.
Our April Attendance stats are:
96.78 Kinder
97.1 1st
98.1 2nd
97.89 3rd
97.28 4th
97.31 5th
Elementary 97.46
98.02 6th
97.15 7th
97.44 8th
Secondary 97.55
Total Prestwick 97.52%

Choir & Guitar Performances Perform
A big thank you to all the families and teachers who came out. Students in the choirs performed songs from their Superior Ranking of 1 from contest, and the guitar classes played pieces they had been building on over the semester.
Music and song are a piece of learning that is a part of every part of the world! Students can continue to grow and carry these skills throughout life. Songs connect us all in one way or another!
Prestwick Run Club is Picking Up Pace!
At the beginning of this school year two students approached Coach Luna about starting a run club after school to work on their speed and endurance. This was the beginning of The Prestwick Run Club with only two students.
Every Monday and Friday Coach Luna has volunteered her time to run with the members of the club. Over time the membership has grown from the founding two members to nine! We practice running drills that build on their speed and endurance which the students wanted to see their results and decided they would all do a 5K race together.
On Saturday, April 29, 2017 the Dallas Cowboy Draft Day 5K Run was the first 5K race most of them had ever ran and it was a huge success. Coach Luna ran with each member and kept them together and on pace that they set as a goal. “They all demonstrated persistence and bravery as they ran their first 5K” said Coach Luna.
Attached are pictures from the historic first Prestwick Run Club 5K and first Dallas Cowboy Draft Day 5K Run at the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters at The Star in Frisco.
Staff Spotlight
Greeting Lobos! This week’s staff spotlight is bittersweet, as we honor and say goodbye to one of our district’s outstanding teachers, Mrs. Beverly Jones-Purvis (Mrs. JP). After 20 years of service, Mrs. JP has decided to call it a career and will retire at the end of the school year. For the past twelve years, Mrs. JP has served children, parents, and staff in Little Elm ISD. She has taught science at several campuses including Brent Intermediate, Lakeview Elementary, and PSA.
In the span of her career, Mrs. JP has received multiple awards to include: Best Presenters at the Conference for the Association of Science Teachers in Texas (CAST), Technology Teacher of the Year 2010, Teacher of the Year for Lakeview Elementary 2011-2012, and District Elementary Teacher of the Year 2011-2012.
Mrs. JP was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas and is the proud wife to her wonderful and supportive husband, Dan of 39 years. Mrs. JP’s retirement plans include an extended stay in England, writing a children’s book, learning Tai Chi, and discovering rest and relaxation.
The Prestwick family would like to thank Mrs. JP for all of her hard work and dedication to our children. Have a wonderful retirement Mrs. JP, you have more than earned!
