Patriot Week at a Glance
April 12-18
A Note from the Principal:
Dear Patriot Elementary families,
Hope this finds each of you doing well! This month, we continue to recognize all military-connected children for Month of the Military Child (see proclamation from our School Board below). Each year we join our country in celebrating the resiliency of military-connected children for their tremendous service and sacrifice at home in the U.S. and overseas. April 16th will be our official "Purple Up" day with a morning celebration and all school assembly. Please dress your child in purple on this day for our celebrations. We are honored to serve and celebrate our military children.
State testing is scheduled for May 11-13th, 2021. Per the state guidelines, students in fourth grade will take the math assessment and students in third and fifth grade will take the ELA assessment. We will test for 60-90 minutes (in the morning) on these dates. If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to your teacher. CMAS scores will not affect overall school performance (Patriot is rated "effective") and students' scores will not be used against them in any manner. These assessments will help us determine needs for instructional planning next year.
Our district will be hosting "D8 Summer Learning Institute" for free this year and the program has been extended to 5 weeks - June 7th - July 16th (with a break June 28-July 2nd). We highly suggest registering for the event as the program will support learning in math, ELA, and specials classes. If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to your classroom teacher. Registration will begin soon, information will be sent to families from the district.
Patriot will continue to follow all safety Covid protocols in our previous shared entry plan. Please remind your students to bring their masks each day and a water bottle. As the weather begins to warm (fingers crossed), we want to ensure all of our students are hydrated.
We will have "in person" grade-level promotions for all kindergartners and fifth graders (weather permitting). Additional information will be sent regarding dates and times. We will also host field day May 17-21 outside. If you need anything, feel free to send an email or call the office and please know we do want to hear from you and address any concerns you may have for your students or family. If we do not know, we cannot help.
It's an honor to serve our community!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Canon, Principal

FFC8 Families,
As we enter into second semester, FFC8 mental health providers have put together a collection of virtual wellness resources for students and families to use for self-care. There are a variety of resources for children of all ages, from animal cams and coloring sheets, to music and yoga. Please explore these resources with or for your child(ren) or yourselves. Our wellness resource page can be accessed through this link and is also available through the home page at each school as well as the district website.

PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL WITH A MASK
A note from our school nurse, Mrs. Porter:
We have students at Patriot who have no immunization records or are missing immunizations. Please contact me or bring in updated ones, that would be greatly appreciated! We will also contact families who need to turn in records.
