Learning and growing together
Kindergarten Information
Please take some time to read through our kindergarten handbook. It includes a lot of important information about school-wide and grade-level expectations.
Essential Agreements
We have spent time developing our classroom Essential Agreements. We talked about what it looks like and sounds like to Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Respectful and Be Responsible. It is great to see the children connect these Essential Agreements to their actions and behavior at school. We want our classroom and our school to be a place where everyone feels comfortable and safe and the best possible learning can take place each day. Our Essential Agreements will be on display in each classroom so be sure to check them out next time you are at Rose Glen!
Has your child brought home a new pencil, a bookmark, an eraser (or other such item) and you’ve been wondering why? At Rose Glen, we acknowledge our students for exhibiting behaviors that are safe, kind, respectful and responsible. A child is given an “eagle ticket” when a staff member notices him/her working extra hard to follow one of our Be statements. Each day during the month of September, there will be a drawing in the classroom. A ticket is pulled and the child gets to select an item to take home. We just wanted you to know and understand what your children are talking about when they tell you they earned a ticket and/or got to choose something to bring home.
Hot Lunch and Student ID Numbers
- Please make sure your child's lunch account has money in it before your child begins taking hot lunch.
- Work with your child until his/her student ID number has been memorized. Each child needs to type this number into the keypad when making a purchase; the faster the ID numbers get entered, the more time our kindergarten students have to eat.
- Milk comes with hot lunch but students who bring a lunch from home have the ability to purchase a carton of milk for 40 cents. Please talk with your child so that your child knows if he/she has your permission to buy milk. We have had some kindergartners purchasing milk whose families are not aware of this. You are able to monitor your child's lunch room purchases and his/her balance through your Infinite Campus account.
Thank you for your assistance!
Rose Glen family directory
Did you know that Rose Glen has an online family directory? Having access to this directory is a great way for you to stay connected with other school families. It also is the way that you would get contact information for your child’s classmates, including information you would need for sending out birthday invitations via email or U.S. mail. (Please remember that unless your child is inviting the entire class, party invitations may not be distributed at school.) Another important reason you may want to be included in the directory is to give your child the opportunity to be invited to birthday parties or other gatherings, since neither the teachers nor the office staff are able to share contact information with you. Hopefully you have already signed up for the family directory. If you have not, please take a few minutes to do so.
Language Workshop & Reading Workshop
This week we began Language Workshop by reading the book Peanut Butter and Cupcake by Terry Border. In this book, Peanut Butter was lonely and looking for a friend to play with. He finally found Jelly and together Peanut Butter and Jelly played with all of their new friends. Even though all of the friends were different from each other, they were still able to play together and have fun.

October field trips
We are in need of adult chaperones for both of these trips. More field trip details will be sent home in upcoming weeks, but if you are interested in attending either field trip you will need to have an approved background check on file with the School District of Waukesha. For student safety, no adult without background clearance will be allowed to join us. No exceptions will be made.
If you have not been approved yet, please complete your background check as soon as possible as it can take a few weeks to be processed. Background checks are valid for 3 years. If you have been approved in the past but are unsure if your background check is still valid, please contact Mrs. Sweet in the office. To complete a background check, use this link: https://bib.com/SECUREVOLUNTEER/SCHOOL-DISTRICT-OF-WAUKESHA/ and follow the directions. Remember to click on "submit" at the end!
