Let's Measure Smiles
"What if, when a principal observed a lesson, he or she focused on how many times the kids and the teacher smiled? How would that change instruction? How would that impact growth? Perhaps it sounds hokey to count smiles but sometimes it seems what we measure, and what we look for, what we consider valuable and good ignores what got us here in the first place: what it means to be human. Raising healthy humans has to come before raising test scores."
