"Fast Break"

By: Edward Hirsch

The poem "Fast Break" is simply about a basketball game. It is beautifully written to where the reader feels as though they are at the game. The poem is completely full of imagery which helps the reader really see and feel what is happening. I really like the imagery in this poem because all of it was realistic. When I was reading it I felt like I was actually at the game. I was able to envision every move and thing that happened in the game. Although there is not really an over all message or theme this is a very good poem filled with imagery.

"gathering the orange leather from the air like a cherished possession" (Hirsch 5-6)

Big image

"in slow motion, almost exactly like a coach's drawing on the blackboad" (Hirsch 15-16)
