Discrimination vs. Peace & Conflict
How do they connect?
Definition of Discrimination
The unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, and gender.
How do these two go together and create and problem?
When people are discriminated for their race for example. Some people just walk away and ignore it, but others think that they should turn it into violence. In my research I learned that two of the most discriminated countries in the world are the U.S. and Germany.
In America...
Near the border of Mexico policemen have killed hundreds of Mexican migrants and other refuges. Also in 2009, 2/3 of the criminals who were receiving life sentences were darker skinned. In New York 83% of the criminals with life sentences were darker skinned.
In Germany...
Almost 30% of Germans believe that refugees from other countries should be removed. Also the Neo-Nazi still exist. The Neo-Nazi is a group in Germany that is against all darker skinned people in Germany.
How do peace and conflict connect?
Having all of this happening in only two countries is creating huge problems. People are attacking these groups and making it unsafe in many major cities.
