Why are the pyramids a triangle?
You may be wondering why the pyramids were built as a triangle. Well, the pyramid had slanted sides so that the dead pharaoh inside could "climb" up to the sky and live forever. Also, if you were to take away one ray of the sun, you could place one of the pyramids in there and it would look like it would fit. Or at least, that is what they were going for. On the website http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/q-and-a/a5643/ancient-egypt-pyramids-0409/ it said that the Egyptians wanted the pyramids to represent a ray of the sun because the sun was "the most powerful thing in the universe. If the Egyptians had wanted to build giant cubes or rectangles, they would have done it. It really is solar symbolism that makes them love that shape."
Who really built the pyramids?
Egyptians building the pyramids
Egyptians and farmers taking items to the pyramid.
How were they built?
They used a ramp to build up high.
They also used ropes to drag and transport.
One of the seven wonders of the ancient world
Out of all the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Egyptian Pyramids are the oldest and only surviving wonders. The Great Pyramid of Giza are the oldest on the list. They are considered one of the seven wonders because it is a miracle of human engineering and construction. It shows that the imagination and hard work of humans is possible because it took about 20 years to complete. Its size and almost perfect measurements were astonishing and amazing. The website http://www.seven-wonders-world.com/pyramid giza.htm said “the Pyramid of Khufu is the extraordinary testimony of the human genius because it was immense and impressive considering the epoch.” There is no wonder why the Great Pyramid of Giza was on the list of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
