Attachment

Loghan Davenport

An attachment is a baby's bond to his or her main caregiver. Attachment starts to develop in the first few months of life, and helps babies develop trust, self-esteem, and social and emotional skills. Physical contact, such as holding and cuddling the baby, helps build attachment. Communication, such as the caregiver's voice, facial expressions, and eye contact, also helps develop attachment.
