The Sheridan Story
We are excited to partner again this year with The Sheridan Story to offer a free weekend food program to all of our students.
The Sheridan Story is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to fight child hunger through community and school partnerships. They strive to make a difference in children’s lives by focusing on food gaps like weekends, school breaks, and summer when children can’t receive meals in school.
· Free for all families
· No qualifications required to receive food
· Students/families will receive a 4-5 pound bag of non-perishable food each week
· The Sheridan Story does not collect information from families: privacy is protected
· Families may participate any time during the school year
If you are interested in more information about this program, please contact School Social Worker, Sari Malterud.

Guidelines to keep in mind:
- No costume masks may be worn.
- Feel free to bring a copy of the book that includes the character that you are representing.
- Students may bring accessories (Ex. honey pot for Winnie the Pooh), but they cannot be toy weapons or any other objects that might be considered threatening.
- Nothing ghoulish or scary is acceptable.
Share your Book Character Day photo!
All of our Shannon Park Digital and Hybrid Families are invited to share their photos here:

Here Comes the Bus App
At the beginning of the 2019-20 school year, District 196 parents whose children ride the bus to and from school each day will be able to track the location of their child’s bus using the smartphone application "Here Comes the Bus." With Here Comes The Bus, parents are able to set up a perimeter around their child’s bus stop. When their child’s bus enters that perimeter, the app sends an alert. Here Comes The Bus also sends notification messages if a bus is running late or if a different bus has been substituted for a child’s usual bus. The Here Comes The Bus app is available to download free on the Google Play Store for Android and App Store for iPhone.
