From the Principal

Welcome back to school! The first 7 days have been a great start for us at Adams. Students are beginning to remember routines and expectations and even lunch numbers! It is so good to see everyone back and smiling.

We have several new staff members at Adams this year. In Kindergarten please welcome Ms. Katey Conley. Katey did her student teaching last semester with Mrs. Hanson and is now calling Adams Elementary her home. We have added a resource position and Mrs. Annie DeClercq is joining us in that capacity. She most recently taught in MSD Perry Township. We also welcome Mrs. Theresa Andis. She will be working with our family members in the CIP classroom, we look forward to the impact she will have. In second grade we have two teachers new to Adams and FTCSC. Ms. Kaitlin Vahle and Mrs. Jennifer Beiers join us. If you have not had the opportunity to meet them yet I’m sure they would welcome your email or phone call. Adams is also welcoming several new support staff members and we are so thankful to have their extra helping hands each day. Mrs. Megan Hoagland, Mrs. Debbie Dick, and Mrs. Mary Fundersol all help our friends each and every day. Dr. Natalie Slider is our school psychologist. She has been in the district for several years but transitions to Adams to replace Dr. Benalla. Finally, we are so happy to have Mrs. Hillary Huff joining us at Adams. She is our Administrative Intern. She serves as instructional coach for teachers and assists with some administrative duties as well. She has taught fourth grade at Thompson Crossing for several years and brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Our new playground equipment is expected to be completed in the next 1-2 weeks. We are eager to see and play on the new activities that the set-up will offer. We plan to have a small ceremony when the installation is complete to celebrate and enjoy our new apparatus.

We had over 25 people at our first PTS (Parent/Teacher/Student) meeting last week! We invite you to join us at our monthly meetings. The PTS sponsors at least one activity every month, and these activities are discussed and planned as well as bigger events such as the Fun Run (10/4) and the spring carnival (5/1). These events require much pre-planning and many volunteers – many hands make light work! Meetings are from 6 -7 PM in the Adams media center and childcare is always provided. Meeting dates for the rest of the year are: September 10, November 5, January 16, Feb. 13, March 10, April 9, May 21. See the PTS calendar at the bottom of the newsletter for more information.

Franklin Township Community Schools are using Conscious Discipline for social/emotional learning. If you would like to learn more about it, you are invited to join us on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, from 9AM – 2PM. It will be at FTMS-East. Please call 317.862.2411 to make your reservation.

Our first All Pro Dad meeting had a huge turnout. It was so good to see so many fathers with their children. These meetings are always at 7:45 AM in the Adams cafeteria. Breakfast from Chick-Fil-A is available for $5/pp. Signups are at allprodad.com or you may call the school to make a reservation. 317.862.2065 Meeting dates for the rest of the year are:

September 20, December 13, January 10, February 14, March 13, April 17

As always, if you have questions or concerns please reach out to your child’s teacher or feel free to contact me as well. Thank you for your continued support at home!

From the Art Room

Hello, I am Mr. Rohrer and I'm taking over for Mrs. McQueen in the art room during her maternity leave. Artsonia is a website that allows us to post student art in a safe and educational manner. We use the proceeds from Artsonia to purchase art supplies. When you get an Artsonia account, you are able to view your child's artwork throughout the year and order prints, T-shirts, mugs, and more with their art printed on them. Your child will be bringing home a slip that shows you how to create an account and grant permission for their artwork to be made public. When the art is public, grandparents, friends, and other relatives can also view your child's art and order items. If you have already granted permission in a previous year, you don't need to do it again.

The art room is in need of baby wipes to help clean tables and students' hands. It would be greatly appreciated if you would donate baby wipes to the art room. Any additional items, such as markers of various width or glue sticks, will also be appreciated. We appreciate your support of the arts!

Hello Adams families! Thank you all for being so patient while we continued to register and schedule new students in our front office over the last few weeks. I have now posted all grade level fees for our students. What does this mean? It means you may now start to use our online payment link using RevTrak with a debit or credit card.
https://ftcsc.revtrak.net/
It also means that any payments that have been made up until this point will begin to be posted in Infinite Campus by me as well.
If you have any questions, please contact me at

Adams Elementary PTS

PTS Board

We are excited to welcome all new and returning families to the 2019-2020 school year at Adams Elementary. We are looking forward to having an exciting and successful year through the partnership of Parents, Teachers, and Students. Our mission, as a PTS is to foster a nurturing and caring environment that strives for continued parent involvement to help build a better educational experience for our children. Our PTS has many ways you can get involved. Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours, your ideas, your time and your skill sets are truly needed in every area. All are welcome – moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc. All families are considered members of our PTS, no dues required.

A majority of the funds received by the PTS is utilized for educational field trips for all grade levels. The PTS has a Fall Fun Run and a Spring Fling to help build the funds required. We also do after school activities. If you are interested in helping with our PTS or have questions, please attend one of our meetings or contact one of the board members.
