INNOVATION CENTER
Pryor High School Innovation Center Launches Elementary STEM Night with Roaring Success!
This past Thursday, February 8th, the Innovation Center buzzed with excitement as it hosted its inaugural Elementary Family STEM Night! From 5:30pm to 8:30pm, the event ignited a love for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in young minds, while showcasing the amazing opportunities available at the center.
Fueling the fun were two food trucks, offering dinner options for eager students and their families. Then, the real fun began! The night was packed with interactive activities designed to spark imagination and encourage future innovators:
There were 10 different stations available for students and families to investigate. One of the first stations that students saw as they walked into the building was the Drone Obstacle Course. Students tested their drone piloting skills through a series of obstacles within the drone arena.
Teamwork makes the dream work! The Space Docking event challenged students and parents to work together in order to successfully dock their spacecraft.
Students built their own Straw Rockets and then had the opportunity to launch them using the rocket launcher!
Taking a virtual thrill ride, students had to buckle up for a heart-pounding VR Roller Coaster experience.
By combining precision and control, students "teed off with technology." The Drone Golf Course once again was a big hit.
Learn the basics of coding and program your own robot to complete exciting tasks. With the help of Jason Seifert from Pitsco, students learned how to start basic coding using the LUMA Code Bots.
Students witnessed the power of potential and kinetic energy in the Chain Reaction activity. The chain reaction activity was one of the more difficult activities to do, but once the students got the hang of it they were able to witness an explosive experience!
Discover the world up close at the Microscope Station. Students peered into the microscopic world to discover fascinating hidden details.
Soar through the skies! Pilot a Flight Simulator and experience the thrill of soaring through the skies and landing a plane.
Students had to manipulate several controls in order to make a Hydraulic Bot to move or stack ping pong balls.
With an estimated 70 students attending alongside their parents or guardians, the event was a resounding success! The positive feedback was overwhelming, and the Innovation Center is excited to continue fostering a love for STEM in future generations.
This STEM Night is just the beginning of the Innovation Center's mission to inspire and empower future generations. With its exciting programs and dedicated team, the center is poised to become a beacon of creativity and innovation, shaping young minds into the STEM leaders of tomorrow.
