Relationships
Great week everyone! It certainly was action -packed! This week included our school-wide book tasting, 3-5 PTA Performance, and our very first spirit night. Your efforts, dedication, and enthusiasm are appreciated.
My advice as we cross the midyear threshold is to continue to focus on the three most important words in education; Relationships, Relationships, Relationships!!! Key relationships include:
Relationships with your students, relationships with your peers, and relationships with the community.
Each student counts and every moment matters!
Micro Elementary is the small school where BIG things happen...thanks to you!

Micro Headlines
Monday: Visitors from Benson Elementary School will be on Campus Monday Morning. They will be visiting classrooms to get advice on how we implement PBL and Inquiry-Based Learning.
Tuesday: Early release for students. Our afternoon session will be a refresher training on PBL with a focus of inquiry-based teaching. The enhancement staff and others will continue their personalized learning series in the Innovation Station. The rest of the staff will be in the Media Center.
All PLC's will be held on Wednesday this week. It is MTSS week. We will focus on problem-solving for at-risk learners.
We have adjusted the Hot Reads section. We will start just having one article per week. This week the article is: How Do I Teach Mathematics in a Culturally Responsive Way? Identifying Empowering Teaching Practices. It is a very thorough article. If you cannot read through all 10 pages, I suggest reading over the bullet points and the summary on the last page. The content has huge, potential implications for our instruction.
School Nutrition will be audited in the next few weeks. As a reminder to all they are sending reminders out to all school staff: please remind students not to stand behind cashier during transactions. This is a violation of privacy. Adult meals consist of same serving size as students... 1 main entree, 2 sides and a Tea $3.50. If students have dietary needs, be sure that we work through the school nurse to get these documented in the cafeteria's computer system.

Innovative practices include, but are not limited to, project-based learning, personalized learning, digital learning, and social-emotional learning. (Link to Innovation Expo flyer) The district will provide setup (tables and technology) for presenters. More information will follow, but please begin spreading the word.
