Hello Sachems! Welcome Back!
Welcome Back! I hope you took the time this weekend to take part in the many community events to recognize Veteran's Day. This is a very important holiday for our nation, and I want to thank the members of your family who have served this great nation. On behalf of our school community....Thank you for their service. A special note to thanks for the MHS Music Department for being a part of the Veteran's Day ceremonies held in our community.
This weeks marks the first full week of Quarter 2. It is important to use the new term to focus on the goals that you set at the beginning of the year. The start of a new quarter is a "fresh start" and I hope you take advantage of the new term to start strong. I believe in you! I wish you the very best for the new term.
Here are a few items for the week ahead.
A special note of thanks and appreciation...
- THANK YOU...to the MHS Band and Majorettes for being a part of the annual Veteran's Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday. It means a great deal to have the Orange and Black represented at this beautiful and powerful event each year.
- Congratulations to the Girls Soccer Team for an incredible game against Norwell last week. Your determination, commitment and grit on the field was something truly amazing. You made that team work for their win. You will be back....just awesome.
- Congratulations to the MHS Cheerleaders for placing third in the South Shore League Tournament. We took an amazing step and we will enter the next round of competition on November 17, 2019. We believe in you!!
- Congratulations to the members of the MHS Cross Country Team who represented the Black and Orange at the MIAA Division 5 State Championship Meet. We are so proud of the work you have done this year. The Boys team finished with the fastest times since 2010 as a program. Paul Giovanoni finished with the highest time since 2009. The Girls team had the highest team finish in over 20 years. Shae Gallagher has the highest individual finish since the 1990's. Amazing Work, Sachems! Outstanding!
- CONGRATULATIONS to Shae Gallagher qualified for the ALL-STATE MEET, which will take place next weekend. This is a first since 2009. Well done, Shae!
- Thank you to the Student Council for the hundreds of cards for Veterans that were created at your meeting last week. Job well done!
- Congratulations to the 30 students who have agreed to serve as the Peer Leaders for the World of Difference Program coming to MHS. Beyond proud of you for your leadership and voice.
- Thank you to Olivia Austin and her incredible team of freshmen who represented our school on Saturday morning at the final Open House for the 8th graders. The morning was a complete success because of each of you. Thank you for your help.
- Congratulations to Shae Gallagher who will represent MHS at the MIAA Recognition Breakfast for her outstanding season in Cross Country. We are proud of you, Shae!
Character Strong - Advisory - NO ADVISORY THIS WEEK
Our next Character Strong Advisory will take place on Monday, November 18, 2019. Be sure to complete the weekly Character Dares!
Quarter I Report Cards - Distributed - Friday, November 15, 2019
Just a friendly reminder that Quarter I Report Cards will be distributed to all students (Grades 9 - 12) on Friday, November 15, 2019. We are excited to celebrate your successes during Quarter I
Talent Show - Wednesday, November 13, 2019
Please join the talented students of Middleborough High School as they are showcased Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the MHS Auditorium. The community is invited to come not only enjoy the show but also to help support the Middleborough High School Music Program. With more than 20 acts ranging from musical performances to dancing and the spoken word, everyone will be sure to find a favorite.
This annual event is hosted by the Middleborough High Concert Choir to benefit the MHS Music Department. The Music Boosters will be offering concessions and Sachem merchandise for purchase with all proceeds benefiting the students in the Middleborough Band, Orchestra and Choral Programs.
Tickets are only $5.00 for students and $8.00 for adults and are available at the door. Come join us for an evening of exciting entertainment.

Bridgewater State University - On the Spot Admission Day - November 13
MHS welcomes Bridgewater State University to our school on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 for their annual On the Spot Admissions Day. We wish the members of the Class of 2020 who have an interview and appointment with Admissions Representatives from BSU luck on Wednesday. You got this!
GSA Partners with BSU
The Middleborough High School GSA will be visiting the PRIDE Center at Bridgewater State University on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. This event is open to any member of the GSA. Please see Molls Corriea or Ash Baron in the Guidance Department for a permission slip and with any questions.
Mark Your Calendars - 21st Century Learning Conference - DIVE - November 22, 2019
- MHS is excited to launch the third annual 21st Century Learning Conference for all students on Friday, November 22, 2019. Information will be coming out shortly for planning.
- Sign-up for workshops will begin on Monday, November 18, 2019. More to come! Stay tuned.

The start of Winter Sports will be here before you know it. Here are some very important dates for you to place into your calendar if you plan on playing a winter sport.
- Winter Sports Registration on Family ID Opens - Monday, November 4
- Winter Sports Sign-Up Meetings - Thursday, November 14 - 2:00pm - MHS Gym
- Winter Sports Begin - Monday, December 2
- Winter Sports Parent/Guardian Meeting - MANDATORY - Thursday, December 5 - 7:00pm
