What is Evening with the Band?
This event is the High School Band's Holiday Christmas Concert, December 11, 2017 @7pm in Kubuski Gymnasium. We also use this event as a fundraiser. For the concert, we have the option to sell tickets to a table in which you get to enjoy some snacks and listen to the Band's performance. It's a really cool enhancement for the evening.
Here is you "Evening With the Band" fundraiser!!! Get your tickets (tables) today! Also, order a poinsettia! ↓

You and Concert Band
Now that the marching season has come to an end and we move in doors, students at times stop the intensity of preparing their music for the next performance. this cannot happen. Students must be able to perform their parts as if it was a solo with great tone and articulation. Many times, this is not the case. With Concert Band and Large Group Adjudicated Event, the last time a Midview Band received a 1 at State was 1984. This is due to the fact that the energy and enthusiasm created in Marching Band music continue to Concert Band, but it sadly does not. Let's make the rest of this year and make it historical. take ownership and be ready.
Concert Season Uniform
Concert season begins on October 31. Our Fist Concert is December 11. All students are required to wear the following items. If you do not own these items, please go out and purchase them.
- Plain Black Dress Shirt
- Plain Black Dress Shoes (or Dinkles!!!!) (shoes must have a LOW heal)
- Plain Black Dress Pants and Belt (for the guys)
- Plain Black Dress Socks
Mouthpiece upgrades
Any student currently playing on their beginning band mouthpiece (except horn and Tuba) you should upgrade immediately. Playing in a beginner mouthpiece is like you trying to wear your clothes from when you were 5.
Here are the mouthpiece you should be using:
- Clarinet Vandoren 5RV Lyre or Vandoren B45 Mouthpiece; Rovner Dark Ligatures
- Saxophone Selmer C* mouthpiece; Rovner Dark Ligatures
All Saxes should be using 2.5 Rico Reserve
- Trumpet Bach 3C
- Horn Schilke 30
- Trombone Bach 6.5 AL; Schilke 51D
- Euphonium Schilke 51D
- Tuba Helleberg 120 Standard
Solo and Ensemble Contests
Believe it or not, it's that time again to register for OMEA solo and ensemble contest! The music and expectations are more intense than Lorain County, so only apply if you are willing to make the commitment. Click HERE to register for OMEA S&E

Private Lessons
Private Lessons are essential for musicians. There are many times we hear "I wish I can sound like that". They sound that way because they take private lessons! Baldwin Wallace has an AMAZING music department with an OUTSTANDING private lessons program. We need to take full advantage of this opportunity! Click HERE for details!!!!
Pep Band
All Students are Required to perform at 4 Pep Band events. Students are to report to the Band room @ 6:30 and wear Midview gear. Students must plan ahead and have their music ready BEFORE we rehearse, NOT during.
Here are the Pep Band dates (click on the date to sign up)
Pep Band Music!
All of the Pep Band music is in Charms documents in the "Stand Tunes" folders. Most of us have smart phones so the best "green" way to get the music is to pull it up on your phone and take screenshots of the music...There are some copies of this music but once that is gone, it's gone...
