Florida Alpha Delta Kappa Vol 1 December 2022
President's Message
Dear Sisters,
December brings the season of winter. The days grow cooler and shorter, and darkness begins in the early evening. During this time, we are surrounded by many symbols of light. In the Hindu faith there is the celebration of Diwali – the great festival of lights. Lanterns lit by fire serve as symbols of wisdom and the triumph of good over evil.
In the Jewish faith there is the eight-day celebration of Chanukah, the rededication of the Holy Temple. Candles on the menorah are lit each night of the festival.
Those people of Christian faith have begun the Advent season with themes of hope, joy and love. This season leads up to Christmas. Homes are decorated with candles, outside lights, and twinkling Christmas trees.
These symbols of light serve as a reminder that we can overcome darkness and can find light, life and hope.
As the year comes to an end, take the time to enjoy this season of lights, reflect on the good that has happened this year and the hopes for 2023.
Liz
