HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 2 Week 7 - 9 June
FROM MARK:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Well, our gang looked fantastic today, to celebrate ‘Pirate Day!’ And the smiles on their faces when they saw the amazing cupcakes for sale was priceless! In among all this excitement, we celebrated the achievement of many of our students at assembly, and were thoroughly entertained by our students in Year Five Catherine. To them and to their teachers Michelle, Pam and Pat, thank you for such a fantastic start to our day. We enjoyed every minute!!
We are right in the middle of Kindy 2019 interviews. When interviewing new families for Kindy 2019 I ask what brings them to Holy Rosary. By far, most of the responses involve ‘Word of Mouth’ recommendations from current or former parents. Many of the recommendations have focused on the standard of education but also the strong sense of community that exists here, and people definitely want to be a part of that. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has recommended our school to others, and would like to assure you that we do not take that support for granted. We really appreciate it. Thank you!
Many of our children will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation this weekend. Please keep them in your prayers.
Next week sees the children of Year One Catherine strut their stuff at assembly. We look forward to your company.
Don't forget! Quiz night next week!
Have a great weekend.
Mark de Kluyver
Principal

THE FAMILY BUSINESSES OF HOLY ROSARY
GET TO KNOW US!
We are super excited to introduce the families of the businesses behind Holy Rosary. The P&F Committee has put together a Business Directory of school families and encourage everyone to use them. These businesses aim to support the P&F committee in the various projects they undertake.
PREPD
GET TO KNOW Kate Brain
What do you do?
We deliver dinner kits – delicious, balanced recipes and all the ingredients required (in the exact amounts required) for you to easily cook fresh meals at home. We do the meal planning, ingredient sourcing and prepping for you, saving you time, money and dinner time stress and reducing your food waste at the end of each week.
No more ‘what’s for dinner’ – just grab your dinner kit, cook and serve!
Why Did You Choose Your Profession?
We have a long background in working with (and enjoying) good food, having owned cafes and commercial kitchens over the past 20 years. When we had kids and life became extra busy we saw the need for an easier way to have dinner on the table at the end of the day, without the usual ‘what’s for dinner’ stress along with missing ingredients, food shopping with kids (urgh) and the routine of eating the same few meals every night. With Keiran's background in food service and mine in Marketing we were excited about the challenge of trying out this relatively new concept on the Perth market.
What was the last picture you took with your phone?
Food of course! A new dish I’m hoping to add to an up coming menu.
Have you ever danced in the rain?
NO, I use far too much product in my hair for that to be an option.
What is your perfect pizza?
At the moment I love a simple base with Italian sausage and truffle oil.
What cheers you up?
Relaxing weekends with the family, fun nights out with friends and the few moments after you’ve tidied the house, before it is messed up again.
Who is your hero?
My mum. She has worked hard and done well in her career, keeps very busy and still has time to be an extremely hands on parent and Nanna to all her grand kids. She also sees the lighter side of life, has great advice and is heaps of fun.
Have you ever been in a food fight?
No, but I’ve had a few fights over food (dinner time with kids).
If you joined the circus what would you perform?
Juggling. Cos I’m a mum, and that’s what we do.
What was your favourite band growing up?
Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Lemonheads (remember them?) grungy 90s rock (that was a long time ago!).
What song will always get you on the dance floor?
Beyonce, Anything.
What is your favourite family recipe?
Slow cooked chicken broth with lots of ginger, garlic and herbs to beat the winter bugs or nanna's pumpkin scones (translated to thermomix).
What is your favourite family tradition?
Excessive decorating and celebrating everything! Christmas & Easter decorations everywhere and birthday banners and balloons. More recently, board game and movie night on weekends.

LIFELINK DAY
On Wednesday, 7th of June, four of the school student leaders Mackenzie, Megan, Cooper and myself went to LifeLink Day Launch at Newman College. At this event, we learnt that the money collected is to help others that need it most. I thought it was amazing how there were 40,000 LifeLink hearts, and a few hundred were from Holy Rosary Primary School all placed on Newman’s oval in the shape of a heart. Bishop Sproxton and Archbishop Costelloe were there and spoke about how Life Link Day started and what it is about. I was proud to represent Holy Rosary at this event. We finished the event with a delicious morning tea.

Siena Centre Wine Fundraiser
Please support the Siena Centre to purchase some much needed resources.
From time to time specific resources are required for the children to achieve their goals. Special Education resources are usually very costly because there is less of a demand for them. Last year the Siena Centre was able to replace our laminator, we are continually laminating schedules, high interest word cards etc and many other visuals. We thank you for supporting this fundraiser in 2016.
This year we would like to modernise our cause and effect toys as well as our fine motor equipment. A number of our children have complex communication needs, our talking switch devices need to be replaced due to constant use, they give the children who have limited voices to contribute to discussions. Once again this year we will allocate some of the money raised towards reading materials.
The rest of the funds, if there are any left will be put towards a wheel chair swing that is going to be installed at a later time.
Please click HERE for Order form. All orders must be returned by 4pm on Monday 19 June and wine can be collected from outside the Library on Friday 23 June and Monday 26 June between 3:30 and 5:30pm.
